Hello All

Newly registered to this site and tackling my first ever string replacement on the Rail Bass. Had this thing for decades and just recently brought it out for my daughter. Any suggestions for the following:

Type of strings

Tips and tricks for easier replacement

How to cut the strings

Lube

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I use double ball ended strings.
Your local guitar shop will be able to help with your choice of gauge.

When I replaced the strings on my rail I used regular strings and just clipped off the ends and locked them down and I have had no problems but I agree that the double ends would work best I think.

Yeah mine came with regular strings. Just bought a set of Ernie's and will be putting it on tonight. The old set I guess was stretched out and I was having problems tuning it. I couldn't get a couple of the strings to tune higher. So I figured a new set of string, reset the tuners all the way the opposite direction, load the strings and go from there. Hope all goes well.
