1984 Thunder 1A additional features query
Hi all
I have recently started to restore a 1984 Thunder 1A but it doesn't quite look like it should.
The body has 4 screw holes around the input jack hole and it has a matching square brass plate for the input jack to fasten to.
Also there are 3 screw holes between the two pickups and and 1 forward of the neck pickup that look like they may have been to attach a pickguard. There is no pickguard with the guitar.
I've scoured the forum and the internet but can't find any pictures of guitars showing the brass plate or a pickguard.
Does anyone know if any guitars had these items? If they have been added later I intend to fill them in and discard the brass plate.
Thanks.

To be honest it is my belief that you are restoring a Thunder that has been already worked over and previously modified.
None of the models I am familiar with have either a pickguard or a jack cover plate. I would look into filling those extra holes first before pressing on.

What Iceman said.
Neither of those items were original, nor needed.
Plug the holes and refinish is all that's needed.
