Westone WA-26 ??????? What`s this?

Hi @ all,

i´ve purchased a Westone WA-26 acoustic Western Guitar today. 6 String and classical dreadnought.
The seller said that the guitar is from 1972.

inside is a print with: HANDCRAFTED IN JAPAN WA-26

I can`t find anything about this guitar!!!!!! Please help!

The link is from the archive site that our fellow forumite Barry maintains. If you could get some pictures of yours taken and email them to me I can get them up for all of us to peek at and give you more opinions on it.

Hello Stephen and welcome here.
I don't recognize that particular model number but it could be a legitimate Mats. The information we have shows the "W" vintage models as having only one letter prefix, not two, so my guess would be a later build.

We would need some pictures before saying too much more.

I don't recognize that logo at all. MIJ yes, but is it a Mats?

Have we found something previously unknown here? Unless someone has more info I think this will end up under the Unidentified Models section of the web site.

The comment about the birdie logo not being suitable on an acoustic may be so, but that didn't appear until the 80's anyway. This still doesn't look like anything we have collected to date on the website. The other odd thing is the use of a second letter in the model reference. "W" would likely be "western" meaning "dreadnought" design, but what is the "A"?
