A steal at £325, eh?? Mmmmmmm, not so sure 'bout that. Still cool nonetheless ...

That's right near $500 USD. Like I said, still very cool but a pretty hot price, in'nit?
Re: Rail bass on gumtree
Never seen one go for less than $400ish.

Eh. I've had my share of deals. I usually ended up overpaying for stuff, especially on eBay. My free Aria 1540, $50 Spectrum GT bass, and $100 Peavey Patriot bass balance it out.

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
This guy is 5 miles away from me. If anyone wants it, just lowball him and I will pick it up and post if he won't.
It is not going to sell at that price, so if you want it, do it!!

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
Hi, I'm interested!
I'd prefer red color, but I could always re-paint, right?
Problems are:
1. don't wanna call a mobile phone from one country to another.
2. unable to negotiate the price as I don't have an email address.
3. if Hoax or westcoaster are willing to help out by collecting, how would we arrange payment? By PayPal?
Well, I wish the price was a little lower and I'd love to see more detailed pictures though.

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
Hi,
TBH I've never done this before so not sure what the best way forward would be. Perhaps Graham could advise after his recent adventures with Iceman. Might be worth putting a guideline up for this, not sure of the legalities if it was posted on the forum though. I'll text the seller if you want and see if I can get you guys talking by email. Let me know what you think.

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
The best way would be for you to respond to the advert and negotiate the price. As Westcoaster says you can do it be email. You can pay the seller directly by Paypal or bank transfer. He may well agree to ship.
If he won't ship, then Wstcoaster or myself can pick it up and post.
If he will only accept cash then you could always Paypal me and I will pay him cash.

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
Hi westcoaster, hoax, Sgt. Vimes and Waren,
I didn't get notification about this topic, strange.
Anyway, I don't see a way to respond to the advert other than calling a mobile phone. Don't know if he could agree to a considerably lower price than £325 but if yes, I like the idea to transfer westcoaster or hoax the money (+ a little consideration) by PayPal and you would collect and put forward.
By the way, I found someone who owns The Rail so I asked him whether he was willing to sell.
He replied that he didn't think about selling but since he doesn't use it much, he might.
Here is a picture of his model, condition doesn't seem to be extraordinary ►
The white thingies left and right on the top tube where the middlepart for the pickup is located, are two cable ties cause he lost the screw.
The paint on most of the second hand Rails never is appealing, so I thought about re-painting in my favourite colour anyway.
I would like to remove the paint from the back of the neck to make it look like this one:
Do you think that would be feasible?

Aw, why not? Sure I'd lose the emblem, but to make it look like new.Warrn wrote:You could (repaint), but I don't think anyone would recommend it!
Or do you think removing the hardware might be the problem?

Re: Rail bass on gumtree
The finish on these (and most Westones) is extremely thick and durable; can you refinish it? Yes, but it will take more work than most other instruments. Also, make sure you aren't chasing an 84.

They come apart real easy.
Personally I wouldn't repaint it. The guitar in question looks to be in good condition.
Repaint it and knock 2/3rds. off it's value, seems crazy.
