"Stunning" Thunder I !!! (eBay US)

I thought my own Thunder I had some nice flamey wood in it, but this thing is unbelievable! 
1981 Westone Thunder 1 guitar,Matsumoku,very rare,custom,nice sound,early model!
What do you reckon, show guitar or promo guitar for catalogue pics? I've never seen one with this much flamed wood in it.

Whoa there, that's a lotta flame going on! May have been refinished to bring out that much flame?

Sumpthin' ain't right here methinks. 
I really doubt if that was a production model. Thunder graining typically is very open and running lengthwise, not flamed; that's a whole 'nuther thang, and probably 'nuther wood!
I tend to agree with Dan, possibly a promo/showpiece? Gorgeous though!
After thought: Kinda has echoes of Pantera about it. I wonder...

So maybe a refinishing altogether... hmmm... or maybe another fluke.
