Good luck RR Hope the cards fall in your direction.
Is it just me or do the majority of ACTIVE Thunder models always end up on the wrong side of the pond?
Wrong side referring only to the added burden and cost of shipping one to me, of course.

The main problem there is getting an active cicuit.
Those frets look well worn also.

I looked atthis one as I'd love a Westone Thunder as I used to gig one 25 odd years ago,
This looks like a lot of work though, more than I'd like to take on right now.
Good luck with it

I saw this get sold about a week and a half ago.
Then I saw it relisted.
Then I found my fret files.
So I had a bit of a rethink.
Its on its way to me now as I put in a BIN.
I'll update accordingly

Re: Got This On Watch... Great Resto Project!
good luck with it Sollo, are you gonna restore the Thunder or make a Westone Resonator guitar with it? now that would be interesting

Congrats on the new addition, I wonder if you would be tempted to strip it down to the wood, see what it looks like "au natural" ?

Terrible, all bits of maple with the grain going in different directions.
There again it might have a curly maple body, in thin strips.

Not a good candidate for a reso conversion, too much rear routing. Nope it will stay black, unless it has been repainted, and will be wired passive too.
I plan to level the frets a bit too.
Now I need to find a bridge that fits

Re: Got This On Watch... Great Resto Project!
i was poking around for pictures of westone guitars and i came across a creative restoration of a Thunder on Flickr
not a reso, but a good bit different than original look.

good guitars refuse to die
great to see em brought back to life, however it gets done!
good on ya!

Hmmmm, nice.
Part Thunder, part Telecaster.
A Thundercaster perhaps.
Bridge on its way for mine.
Going to simplify the wiring, I think.
No coil taps, no actives, just those two hummers with a three way, plus a tone control for each.
Or something like that
