I hope someone on here gets it, I'd love to see better quality pics. An original box too, first time I've seen one of them! It's only a 50 minute drive from me mmmmmmmm

Re: T1A - as new, literally
Amazing that these guitars still surface in this condition after all this time! Un-freakin' believable.
Go get 'em Neil! Grab it with both hands, no matter what!

Good for you Neil !! Hoping your stars are aligned here. Saw an original box one other time in my life and what a feeling it was to pop it open and see that case inside. May you be so blessed as well.
Re: T1A - as new, literally
Are the brass knobs still mint? My TIIA is very near mint, but the knobs have oxidised slightly.
I saw this on ebay before I read about it here. My eyes did open slightly wide when I saw the mint condition original box!

They're brass, it's normal for them to tarnish. Polish them!Annoying Twit wrote:...the knobs have oxidised slightly....

The one on ebay looks so new, I wonder if it has been kept in a sealed vacuum container.

It's the contact with your fingers that wears off the protective lacquer and allows sweat and oils to discolour the metal. If it ain't bin played, it ain't gonna tarnish.

This may be the only original box we see, this is a NEW Westone.
If someone gets it, please take detailed pics, box and all, and post them for posterity's sake!!!

Ooooh, maybe that wasn't Neil that won that one; it was a new player on the ebay scene, and I'll just bet Neil's been all over ebay since way back!!

I'll try and post pics
Sorry - I was the guy that bought this guitar. I'm more of an Aria Pro affictionado really, but thought this looked cheap for what it was, and on impulse I put in a bid and won the auction. Anyway, it's a remarkable guitar for its age. It's literally like brand new - could have come off the production line last week. The box it came in is in pretty good nick too - it even still has the polysyrene support / protectors inside it.
The guitar arrived the day before yesterday and I gave it a whirl through an old WEM Dominator amp and everything works fine. The only problem is that although I originally bought it to play, I don't want to risk tarnishing it at all - it really is that clean. So it's going into its box and back into hibernation as a family heirloom.
Anyway, like I say, I'll try and post some pics if I can work out how to do it. And I just wanted to reassure the Westone communtity that this remarkable Thunder hasn't gone to someone who doesnt' appreciate what they've got. I had an Aria Pro PE-R80 disappear en route between Japan and Saudi last year (probably stolen), and what hurt most wasn't the loss of the guitar, it was that whoever had taken it probably had no idea of the worth and rarity of it.
Regards.

I can speak for us all on here... big collective sigh of RELIEF!!!
Can you take pics of the box and inserts, too? Would be great to have them for posterity's sake.
Sounds like you're our kind of people. Welcome aboard.

Re: T1A - as new, literally
Absolutely, Chad - welcome here, Retsdon - we're all Matsumoku admirers here so we do know a little about APII's, Vantage, Electra and the rest! R80, eh; I'll just bet that hurt....
As for the pix, what I suspect most of us innhere do is upload the photos we want to share onto an online library like Photobucket, and then c+p the .img links that you're given into our posts here... we'd certainly love to see this Thunder up close, as it were!!
And I've got to say; play it, man; that's what it was built for!!
