Re: another prestige 150.
Interestingly, the middle pickup does look like a Westone or Matsumoku that I've seen before.
The seller has zero feedback.
It's had over 16000 hits.
My Prestige 150 that didn't sell had over 20000 hits when it closed.

That p'up just MAY be from an APII like the Stray cat or Warriors(?) but I still reckon he's dreaming if he thinks he'll get anything like his price! Did you sell yours eventually, Colt?

No, I still have it. I'm not going to give it away. I can wait to sell it when the market improves a little. It just blows my mind that mine didn't bid up to my $450 reserve. That's what I paid for it a while back. Maybe the problem was my end time, about 7:00 p.m. central time on Sunday night. I had over 50 watchers and like 20000 hits. You never see these things for sale in the U.S. (except now there's the one we're talking about).

It looks a lot like the one on the Spectrum FX here:

Re: another prestige 150.
Ahh - I knew I'd seen it somewhere!! There was a FX on Trade me about 6 months ago which went for very good money indeed; too much for me anyway!!
You know, I reckon the trick with any item in an auction is to keep it listed if it doesn't sell; I've had similar experiences on NZ's Trade me - it'll sell eventually, man, it just needs the right person to spot it!

Re: another prestige 150.
I am the purchaser of this guitar and just received it. It is in fact completely stock and unmodified in excellent+ condition. The center blade single coil is actually factory installed (which is why it is indeed the same as the blade single coil on the FX mentioned above).
This guitar is actually an ultra rare "reissued" Prestige 150 from 1986. No known photo or description seems to exist other than its listing in the 1986, 1987 and 1988 price list under Jazz guitars. The main Westone cite simple speculates that because of the model number it is a “reissued” Prestige 150:
“First mentioned in the August 1986 US pricelist (Listed under 'Westone Jazz Guitars'), the model number is given as PR150BK (Which makes me wonder if it's a reissue of the Prestige 150) and the (Limited) specs given are -
Colour – black
Arched Maple top
3 ply Maple neck
PEQ P/U circuit
Price was $675
The details and price are the same in the Sept 1987 and Jan 1988 pricelists.”
This guitar confirms this speculation and it is indeed identical to my 82 Prestige 150 except for the added single coil (which is added to the humbuckers by push-pull bridge vol. knob.) The humbuckers are the typical covered MMK 75s with the PEQ circuit. I have never seen a 86-88 serial Prestige on any US or European website. In this sense is far rarer than the first-generation Prestige 150 or even 250’s since they do come up from time to time on these auction cites. This extreme rarity was why is was misidentified by even the knowledgeable folks here as being a “standard” 150 that had been modified.
Regards.

Hey there Geg,
Just to avoid any confusion, I've moved the rest of this post to the Members Westones forum, so don't worry, your pix haven't disappeared!

Re: another prestige 150.
Interesting, then your was also a "reissued" 150, actually price listed it as a Prestige I in 86-88. This would be only the second one I have ever seen and still far less common than the typical first generation aprox. 1982-1984 150's and 250's. Did you realize yours was a "reissued" 150 (no known example on the main Westone site)? These were only listed as being available in black so that makes sense with both guitars. As for the "added" single coil in mine, I can only say the push-pull pot's markings and construction (as well as the blade single coil) are identical to those in my other factory installed Westone and Westone/Electras. Also, as I mentioned in the other thread, there is black lacquer throughout the single coil route identical to both humbucker routes (no evidence it was routed aftermarket). It is worth noting that the 86-88 price list also has a Prestige II on it, so presumably out there somewhere is also a super elusive "reissued" 250.

Re: another prestige 150.
ALl this reissue talk just kills me. I had what I am pretty sure was a reissue 250!
It was deep black but if one inspected it closely enough it was more like deep deep purple see through finish. You could make out the grain if you looked REALLY closely.
It had two humbuckers, peq setup, the only thing it had different than any other prestige I have seen (so far) was a slick laminated pickguard. I might even still have that around. Brass nut. Although maybe not a re-issue come to think of it as it had no wings just the name....nevermind.....LOl still was a great guitar.
:O)
