Kinda' the 1st thing I thought, now I know one thing that can make a grown man cry.
Re: Vantage project?
It mentions in the ad that this is in fact a Mats...Vantage VA-800.
Amazingly good guitar (or was), and could be again with a bit of work. It might be tough restoring all the hardware though.

You blokes are a joy to forum buddies with... Indeed, a VA800 and at least it's been saved from some sort of guitar hell! As Barry said, to restore to OEM would be a monolithic task, but what a platform for a custom build!!

Re: Vantage project?
Sorry but this is not a Vantage VA-800....
This is a Korean copy of a VA-800 made between 1980 and 1985 sold under several brand names like Gumika and Mann. The brass dot inlays are the first giveaway plus the VA-800 brige sits 3/4 of an inch deep into the body... One hell of a heavy brass bridge. This one does not. A VA-800 will also have a solid piece of wood for each wing, this one has 2 or 3 per wings like the Korean ones....
If any one from the board bought this guitar, congrats since the Korean ones are real killer guitars but this is not a Vantage VA-800

Re: Vantage project?
That's because Pierre has copies of every guitar ever made and can compare them very easily!hoax wrote:
