Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
(Has this one been up before? )
Looks OK and all original (including the 26 year old dust )
BIN = USD$249.99
But the shipping is a deal breaker! $130?!?!?

You're seeing international shipping because the guitar is in Minnesota and you're viewing the page from the Canadian eBay site. It's $40.

News flash Warrn...I don't live in the States.
$130 is indeed a deal breaker not only for me but lots of Forum members. Many eBay listers consider Canada to be "International" including this one, so it's no different than a UK poster complaining about the shipping. Just a way to get more money. The rate isn't justified.

Regardless of that, it's not accurate to say the shipping is $130 because for most of North America it isn't. If I wanted it and didn't look myself, I would have been misinformed and skipped it.

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
Hang on a moment chaps; the US and Canada are on the same continent, yes? Would it cost $40 to send this from Seattle to Miami, but $130 from Seattle to Vancouver??!! "cause that's what it sounds like and that's just silly, eh! What's up with that??
I'm having a bit of trouble this end actually as my Backbox hasn't turned up and enquiries elicit the fact that it is sitting awaiting collection by me at Parcel Forces depot in Vienna. Hmmm... Sweet tap-dancing, snapping poop!! More anon...

Yes John it is silly. If you use the online shipping info given that's what's being asked for. I agree it's ridiculous.
But Warrn, why are you always busting my balls over trivial things man?
Just read the damned ad if you're interested, and say thanks to people like me who take the time to bring the bloody thing to your attention in the first place!
Follow up on it, or not. Just quit moaning at me.
And the last time I looked, the US is still not the centre of the universe.

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
My point was that the shipping price you posted is possibly misinforming the reader. You don't have to pitch a fit over it.
Besides, I thought eBay automatically changed to show you the international price based on that you're viewing from a different country, I didn't think the seller did anything but punch in the shipping prices for his home country and international. I could be wrong, I dunno, but I know the cost to ship a guitar to Canada is $~45 (via USPS).

There is only one way to settle this...a good old fashion knife fight. Two men enter, one man leaves. First one to die losses.

Nice to see that you laidies are still up for a pillow fight now and then, but don't let it spoil your fun on here. I'll take two ringside tickets.

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
Sorry boyz, no fight, and no surplus Westies. I can't afford to ship myself to Florida (International rates you know)!
Joking aside, ya know, this isn't a court of law, and I'm damned if I'll be called out as "misinforming" anyone, having spent my valuable time to source out items of interest to forum members and make them known.
The rest of my life's too short and I'm too old to put up with this sort of nonsense.
My solution is to simply stop posting "For Sale" items.

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
Shame, man; I enjoyed those but OK! There's not a lot of point in everyone getting bent out of shape about something as trivial as this; I, for one, never thought anyone was misinforming anyone else; I just read the listings and sighed, knowing that shipping from the CONUS to Europe, and earlier on, to New Zealand, would cripple just about any apparent good deal.
So thanks for those efforts on my behalf, anyway, Barry!!
I feel a bit cheated by the lack of a Mexican knife fight... I may have to go into downtown St Helier tonight looking for trouble.... it's a seething hotbed of intrigue and casual violence, you know?!?!

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
Guys. Guys. I don't know you on a personal level, but I can tell you from experience that comments in these chat room forums can really be misconstrued in the way things are worded and a persons actual intentions who writes them can be entirely inocent. I stepped down from the leadership of the A# Guitar and Bass Players discussion and info group on ebay uk because of this sort of problem. There were a few times that my flippant remarks were taken the wrong way which led to certain members leaving the group in a huff. I swear that I meant no malice in any of my comments, as they were just man talk as it is between band members from the northern British band scene. However, not everyone picked up on the humour (Irish members in particular). And the point I am trying to make here is, that as men (which I hope we are) we can call each other a piece of sh*t (and worse) then go for a pint together afterwards. If you feel the need, call each other a Tw*t but then add "but I still love you." (don't take that the wrong way either!) I hope that you will continue to post Barry.

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
just in case anyone is interested.. i normally ship guitar out by fedex ( when i sell them on ebay ) i live 3 miles from a major airport in tennessee.. there is a fedex terminal there.. i normally use them because they are a bit more careful with the packages in my opinion.. i sent my first guitar to canada about 2 weeks ago.. went to fedex like always and they were going to charge me 112.00 to send to toronto.. had to take it to usps and got it for about 48.00.. il really dont like using usps for guitars, just dont think they take the same care of the items..

Thanks, Martin. It's hard to say anything the way you mean it with just text. I get in all kinds of trouble for this kind of thing. I wasn't looking to offend.

Keep it up Barry, I read every post you put on here mate! Have learned a hell of alot from you & other senior members since i have been here not just on Westone, but the Mats product in general. You & the other boys (& gals) are the ones that made me decide to wait & be patient to find my second Westone/Mats guitar.
Cheers mate!

Me too, Barry and Cosair have had a big influence on my Westone purchases, they really seem to appreciate them fully and show them with pride rather than just put a photo saying "here is my new Westone" they break them down, take photos throughout the cleaning / restoration process and go into great detail.... I wish more members did that on here

Re: Westone-Electra X-189 -1984 (USA)
Thanks for the kind words Richie and Jay. Nice to be appreciated.
But I'm not leaving the Forum, just the "For Sale" part of it.
There's little point in spending my time to alert members to available Mats when I get sniped at about details that I have no control over; not once, but a couple of times this past week.
As I say all the time to my 15 year old, "Take responsibility for yourself and your actions. Stop blaming others because things aren't what you thought they'd be." If yer interested, read the seller's ad. Don't shoot the bloody messenger if something doesn't sit right with you!
Cheers guys!
