Wouldn't be so bad if they'd left it as the Thunder II/II-A with a clear strip up the middle. My Thunder I-A is quite tatty and I confess I had considered stripping it and doing that in a dark green Oh I just noticed the knobs... lol

Re: The horror, the horror...
I meant the SHAPE of the body. Look at the edge of the neck pickup ring....

Re: The horror, the horror...
At least it seems to have a decent finish job on it.

Man! There's just no excuse for this kind of stupidity!
It's one thing to muck with the finish, at least that can be reversed. But to perform major surgery like this!? In what world is this an improvement.

I suppose it could've had a major accident (like someone took an axe to it?!) and that was the best salvage job they could do on it?

Re: The horror, the horror...
It would have to have been one almighty accident to lop off the lower horn of a Thunder!! I would think anything that severe would have also damaged if not sheared off the neck. It looks like the structural integrity of the neck anchor point has been compromised here too, not to mention the tonal qualities of the neck pup. Looks stupid too of course.

Re: The horror, the horror...
It's only February and already we have a contender for the I Need My Tools Taken Away Award 2010, for criminal acts on a Westone by another supposed "professional guitar tech"
Looks like he was trying to gain some upper fretboard access, it's gotta be close to breaking into the neck pickup rout with that much wood removed. Notice the fore arm chamfer has been altered aswell, quite badly it would seem!
P.S. IMHO the colour sucks aswell!

How do we know that the dog didn't attack it for breakfast one morning, and the poor owner did the best patch up job possible?

Re: The horror, the horror...
Hmmm... the colour's fine; transparent blue is a Westone trait, but carving that much wood away from the neck pocket just can't be good and what nong puts strat knobs on anything but a strat?
