Tarnishing... Empty Tarnishing...

Rightio, gang.... how do y'all keep your cased guitars from tarnishing??? We're right by the sea here, and I mean right by the sea - the Coral Sea is but 200m away - and the exposed metalwork on the cased kit tarnishes very quickly indeed.

I've thought about case dehumidifiers and bags of silica gel but these don't address the salty air issue, so; ideas, people? Is putting a clear coat on said exposed metal the only way out? That'd be a giant PITA.....

And any suggestions that we move to a drier, less sea side location will be met with derision and haughty dismissal!!

No what you mean, lived by the sea a good deal of my life.

BIG problem!

Rub a bit of Vaseline on 'em after a good clean.

Ugh, I had an issue with the beach humidity when I lived about the same distance from the Atlantic, just south of Daytona Florida.  I kept all my electrics in their cases and had no issues, but my acoustics (which I didn't have cases for) paid the price.  I had a nice 12 string about a year old and the humidity affected the bracing and it was beyond repair.  Acoustics +beach = bad.  If the elctrics are getting messed up, then close the windows, get a dehumidifier and pray Smile
