Are You Being Served??

Well, there you are!
I was about to give up ever seeing these forums again! I have been getting "Unable to Find Server" and "Unable to Connect" errors for about 3 days now. I got the odd notification message of a new post, but when trying to respond I hit the above messages instead.

I noticed a change in domains also, have you been trying to switch over to a different hosting platform?
So, like, what's a-happenin'?

I moved the hosting of www.westoneguitars.net over about 3 days ago in preparation for finally getting on with putting some static content up. More on that soon.

You should have been able to get onto forum.westoneguitars.net with no problem. However I see that coincidentally the forum hosts had a problem too over the last 24 hrs. Plus there would have been a few hours on Thursday where it went a bit funny.

Either way, it should be there for everyone now.

Hmmm...in replying to this post just now I hit a "Down for Maintenance" notice, so I'm not sure you're out of the woods yet.

I tried again and the second time the forum loaded. This is typical of the kind of thing I've been experiencing lately. I've also noticed a lot of slowness generally in connecting and loading.

I'd love to move the forum hosting over to my own server, but unfortunately the host I set up with last year does not allow downloadable backups to be taken so I would have to start from scratch again. It was all set up in such a rush last year that when I read in their T&C's that they provided a backup service I didn't stop to check it out before creating the site. I'm working on a solution - honest.

So, for now at least we are at their mercy regarding downtime. Hopefully this is won't be regular!

Hang in there Neil...and the best O' British luck with all that! It can be a right pain in the arse.
I don't know if I can be much help from wa-a-a-y over 'ere but shout if I can assist with anything. (I have an IT background and have just enough Apache IIS, phpBB and PHP knowledge to be really dangerous! )

No worries, maintaining a few websites can be quite tricky.
I'm in that business partly myself, so don't be to hard on our ADMIN.
It nearly works again, as we used to.
