Madmalko does 'Westone Week'
Scottish Youtuber Madmalko is doing a week on Westones - I don't know if that means just guitars.
First up is a 1983 Concord H2:

Re: Madmalko does 'Westone Week'
It's great to see the Westones being spotlighted.
The presenter is an, um, acquired taste, and it would be better if he was a bit more organized, but his playing demonstrates the guitars fairly well. but in the end you can't beat the enthusiasm for our beloved Westies.
Thanks for posting Jerry. It would be good if you can post up the series (or at least the link) so we have a nice reference here for future new fans.

Oh, I like Malko as he's down to earth and also knows his stuff - and after all he's just some guy trying stuff out and havng some fun with it. Function over form! I usually get annoyed with YT guitarists/bassists as they usually spout nonsense and/or just come across as being a bit full of themselves And yes, I will add videos to this thread if he posts more. He's done various Westone guitars and basses over the years and is a fan.

Today it's the turn of a 1982 (?) Raider I, which he runs alongside an '85 Aria ZZ. He's deffo a fan of the Raider:

Love that blue finish!
I love my Spectrums too. I'm fortunate in having found 7 of them over the years, one of which has a red metallic burst similar to this one. Just magnificent.
'Wonder why they didn't continue with this finish, cost considerations maybe?

Re: Madmalko does 'Westone Week'
Shame that the finish wasn't applied to some of the Speccy basses too! Yeah, I wonder if it was not cost-efficient to have that finish on a wider set of guitars/basses, as it would have to be done by hand. I'm thinking the Spectrum III may have been a proof on concept that the market at the time wasn't quite ready for. After all, it is generally an advanced bit of kit for the time and price bracket.

Re: Madmalko does 'Westone Week'
Today it's a short video on the Thunder I:
Speaking of the finish of the Spectrum III, the only thing that might be close to it is the finish on some Arias from more or less the same period. Mind you, they were more blue with a blackish edge IIRC. Still, probably made in the same factory.

No need to change labels. The Westone Prestige line had some spectacular burst finishes too: LINK

Yeah, I've followed him for years (from the attic days). Because he plays the more unusual item, he was the first person I found to play a Hondo II H-1030, which I own two of and which is one of my favourite guitars.
