Unhappy Pickup in Thunder 1-A v3?
Hi all,
I'm a newbie with an unhappy Thunder 1-A v3 with magnabass style pickup that i found on ebay. The pickup has broken flange on one of the bobbins, cut & frayed a few winds of the coil, and broken magnets. I've got a foto but can't seem to embed it in the post without the group thingo telling me the message is too long.
Is this worth trying to resurrect or should I chase a replacement? I'm guessing both parts and full pickups are difficult to find, do you have any suggestions where to source either pls? I've read somewhere that the pickups for Aria Pro from same vintage are possible an alternative??
Any suggestions would be very welcome!! And maybe guidance on how to upload the foto?!
thanks, marcus.

Re: Unhappy Pickup in Thunder 1-A v3?
Hello Marcus and welcome.
Sorry about being unable to post your pix.
New members must wait 7 days before being allowed to post images (hyperlinks).
It's an anti-SPAM preventative implemented some time ago to stop the board from being slammed by useless or abusive crap. Nothing personal matey.
Your pickup sounds like it has seen better days,eh? If you know how to repair it and have the time, etc, it may be worthwhile as a project and would restore the bass to original condition.
If you don't care about that, there's no shame in using a replacement. I don't know enough about bass pickups so I'll leave it to one of our more knowledgeable members to chime in with suggestions.

Thanks for the replies.
Thanks also for the explanation of the image embedding Barry, I tried to do a link to the foto however, it tells me same thing, no links for 7 days. I'll wait it out and do that next week and resume the questions then. Cheers!
