IN SEARCH OF Hardtail Piece / Tailpiece for my Westone Rainbow I

Help!

My Westone Rainbow I is my favorite guitar and the Hardtail bridge piece just snapped. I've heard they were made of pot metal and prone to snapping now that these guitars are around 40 years old. 

I just found out that these are a non-standard size and about a quarter of an inch smaller than any of the other hard tail bridge pieces that I could buy from major hardware and gear distributors. Gibson hartail bridge pieces is about 3.25 inches and Westone hardtail is only 3 inches. There aren't replacement parts to be found for this size.

Who's got one that I could buy?

That's a sad, sad story we hear all too often from Rainbow and Prestige owners.
 
I seriously doubt that there is a spare stop tail kicking around, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm afraid there's no simple remedy. Forum member Westbone only solved this problem by having one custom machined from solid brass, expensive but that's about the only option short of plugging and re-drilling the stud holes.

That presents refinishing problems, especially if you have anything other than a solid colour. Some of the mod might be covered partially by the new part??

I have no info on it but I am assuming the the wider string spread may also put a sideways tension on the saddles which could affect stability and/or intonation.
