Concord III - replacement scratchplate
Hi,
I've recently been quoted almost £70 to have a new 3-ply Concord III scratchplate made. Maybe this is because the supplier has no templates? But that seems very over-priced - or have I got it wrong?
Just asking if anyone has any links to a maker/supplier - or even if anyone has an old one they don'y need/want.
Thanks for any advice guys.

Re: Concord III - replacement scratchplate
Your chances of finding a replacement pick guard are about equal to discovering rocking horse poo!
My initial response is, what exactly is wrong with the current plate? If it's scratches you're worried about, a thorough going over with a fine rubbing compound should rectify that. If it's cracked however that's another thing.
You could make your own fairly easily if you're at all handy with some basic tools. It would be cheaper than what you've been quoted plus you have the satisfaction of restoring it yourself.

My initial response is.......
Hi Barry - thanks for the reply,
Yep, that's been my experience. I butchered the scratchplate back in the day by putting a humbucker in the middle position (yes, I know...) because it wouldn't fit the single coil cut.
I had considered making one myself - and I'm not too bad with the auld handy skills.
Cheers

You might check out this site in Germany. They have a lot of replacement guards and will make custom ones if you make up a cardboard template. reasonable prices, too.
