Need help with this Bass
Hello peeps
First post, I have this Westone Thunder 1A bass, I don’t know much about it but the wiring is messed up and the switch is missing ,would anyone know where I can get parts for this, going to try and revive it and see what happens.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Need help with this Bass
Would anyone know what switch I need for this, also I haven't seen many Westone Thunder 1A basses with the one pickup, sorry for my ignorance here, I picked this Bass up of a friend for £30, he said it wasn't working and it needed new electronics but I don't know where to start, would like to get it working, strange setup with a wire under the Bridge ?
Cheers and sorry for the edit of the posts, new here .
Cheers
Peden

Re: Need help with this Bass
Can help you with the switch as per your photo. You in the UK?
All electric guitars have a connection to the bridge. It's an earth/common. Otherwise you'd have a massive hum.
Put a few photos up of all the electrics.

The broken switch is the active on/off.
I have these.
Send me a pm.
Looking at the active circuit board. Make sure none of the components are bent onto each other and shorting out. Yours does look a little battered.

Re: Need help with this Bass
Yeah, Bloody mess indeed, The Pickup looks like it had some sort of compound on the bottom of the magnets that stuck to the brass plate also, I think I have some of this stuff that I used on computers would that be okay to use here ? the input jack is a bit dodgy too, would like to have brass knobs instead of the plastic ones and a new bridge and tuners to make it look nice, is there anywhere I can pick these items up online, I suppose I am trying to customise the whole thing.

Re: Need help with this Bass
That compound on the bottom of the pickup is perished foam rubber.
Used to push the pickup either up or squash in down with the adjusting screws at each end.
A bit of spit and polish on the bridge and tuners works wonders.
Those black knobs you have are standard items on your model.
do you have a serial number?

So do I put some foam between the plate and the pickup when putting back on, it looks like a compound to me on closer inspection, the serial on the neck is 6050247

Re: Need help with this Bass
Well the brass base needs a bit glue to secure it to the pickup bottom.
Underneath some foam cushioning.

Re: Need help with this Bass
Foam goes underneath the pickup, in the cavity, to provide some resistance to the adjustment screws.
Really, doesn't look too bad in there...
Got a finish in mind??

Looks good.
If you decide to change the knobs (first of all, don't!) make sure you keep them. They're a proprietary design and highly sought after, and near impossible to find.
