Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
You know that non-original cases are generally better built - and generally in better nick! - than a 35 year old thinline case, right?!

Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
Oh certainly. I have a case for the thing that's just fine. It's just one of my quests to find one, especially after being disappointed that Concord's are just slightly smaller and my Thunder wouldn't fit the case. I've got a couple other guitars that could use a case, too, so if I could find an original for the Thunder that'd be awesome.
Plus, wouldn't an OHSC go great with that of my Thunder Bass? I figured why not give it a go?

Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
The only original cases for generally ANY of the older Mats WESTONEs still have a guitar in them - and there aren't many of those (at least here in Germany).

Out of 37 guitars, only 8 have OEM cases/bags.
And of those, only 3 are Mats guitars.
And of those, 2 are Westones.

I'll be going with cases from ROCKCASE (I think that's the name). They are decent and don't cost an arm and a leg. I'd prefer an SKB, but they are WAY out of my (non-existent) budget.

Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
My gigging days are long gone now, so I don't really need hard shell protection for my more recently acquired guitars.
Because of the number of guitars I have, and the limited space, I've attempted over time to reduce the number of unnecessary hard shell cases (especially the big rectangular ones) in favour of padded gig bags.
They keep everything protected from bumps and bangs, allow close racking, keep dust off the instruments, protect from excessive swings in humidity, and, provide storage for ancillary parts like trem bars, straps, cleaning cloth, strings, picks paperwork etc., etc.
All in all it works well for me.
Reduces weight considerably too, something I appreciate more and more as the years and Mother Nature remind me of my diminishing ability to lift and lug heavy stuff around.

All great points and certainly enough to keep my want sated. And agreed about the rectangular cases, they're almost unnecessarily bulky just for the sake of being that way!
Your guitar collections sound quite impressive. I've only enough to count on two hands, but soon will be having a Spectrum LX Bass in my possession. Looking forward to carrying around that case and neck!

Hey peacius,
where abouts in the world are you? That LX Bass... is it perchance the long-scale one in Germany (got my beady eyes on it, but can't afford it till maybe next week)? Something to drool over

ExFender, I'm out in California and the one I'm getting is coming in from Canada. Looks like you'll be able to get your hands on one still! I'll post some pics once mine comes in, maybe it'll help push you along to getting that one out in Germany!

Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
Quick little update on this inquiry... I found a Thunder guitar case without its proper guitar! Only problem with it is the handle being busted. Otherwise it's in very nice condition.
In fact, within the same time frame, I was able to pick up a Thunder guitar case AND a Concord bass case that fits my Frankenbass perfectly. I guess there is such thing as luck.
Thanks all for your thoughts and info!

Re: Thunder I Guitar Case
Hi All, first time posting a question. I have a Westone Rainbow ii semi acoustic. It has been going badly out of tune over night. The reason became clear this morning when i found the stop tail had split in two. So i am looking to replace with stock original if possible, it was a gold effect finish. Any help much appreciated.
