1984 Thunder III bass parts - (UPDATE: Parts now claimed)
After years of wrestling with the decision; I have upgraded my 1984 Westone Thunder III Bass with Bartolini electronics and pickups and Gotoh lightweight tuning heads. I’m delighted with the result, but to help ease any pangs of remorse for not keeping it original, I’m offering the original parts free-of-charge to anyone within the UK who has a use for them. I'm based in Cheshire.
I’m offering this in good faith to anyone looking to repair or restore their Westone to original spec.
All original parts comprising:
18 volt Active preamp
All wiring, pots, switches, battery clips and output jack
P and J type pickups with gold pole-pieces + gold coloured fixing screws
Brass under-pickup shielding plates with foam padding
3 x brass knobs for the control pots
3-way pickup switch
4 x original Westone-badged gold tuning heads
Everything was fully operational before being very carefully removed from the bass. Please note that all wires were unsoldered from the pickups and pickup switch during de-installation (better this than cutting any wires). The unsoldered wires are clearly labelled and colour photos are included to show where each wire should be re-soldered).

Frankly, I'd hang onto them on the off chance that you might want to sell it in the future, but what a great offer!!

Re: 1984 Thunder III bass parts - (UPDATE: Parts now claimed)
To be honest, had that same thought, but I had the upgrade done in April 2018 and a year on am still so pleased with the results that I can’t envisage ever wanting to sell the bass or change it back to original. The bass will go to one of my sons when I shuffle off this mortal coil.
Besides; the routing for the bridge pickup had to be more squared off at the corners to fit the new J pickup – and one of the switch holes had to be enlarged to fit a pot for the new 3-band active EQ, so re-fitting the original parts to the bass wouldn’t look 100% perfect.
And I have too much music-related clutter lying around, so it's time I moved these parts on to someone who can make better use of them.
By the way; I'll post some pix and details of the bass as it now is elsewhere on this forum soon.
