Hi

Sadly a member of my band passed recently and he left me this guitar - can anyone identify it please?

It is old and in its original westone case - guitar is in good condition - cant find a serial number.

I think its at least 20 years old - maybe more.

Please help

Cheers

Welcome!
Is it a Vox Shadow? Not sure the case is "original" though.
Do you have pics of the whole thing?

Hi David, looks like a good player you have there.
I'm no expert on the VOX models but this entry on Wikipedia might help a bit:
Vox had experimented with Japanese manufacturers at the end of the sixties with the Les Paul-style VG2, and in 1982 all guitar production was moved to Japan, where the Standard & Custom 24 & 25 guitars and basses were built by Matsumoku, the makers of Aria guitars. These were generally regarded as the best quality guitars ever built under the Vox name. They were discontinued in 1985 when production was moved to Korea and they were replaced by the White Shadow models

Most of the info here and in the links seems to be referencing Les Paul style models, so your single coil guitar would obviously not be covered under that.

Perhaps one of the members has something more helpful. Meantime a few more pix would be good: full view front and back, and especially the neck plate and head stock, etc.

This isn't a Japanese Vox. It is much earlier. Probably UK made, 1960s.

Do you have any more pictures...? It looks rather similar to a Watkins Raider...which I believe were also marketed under other brands in the 60's and 70'

From what I've seen, the Clubman and Rapier both have separate bridge and tail.

Hi David that's not a Westone / Electra Guitar its is an English VOX Shadow guitar.
about a 1965 model... Sounds like it was just stored in a Westone Case.
It's a Beauty though...
