You blokes know how I'm playing around with recording, right? And how I'm blessed with more guitars than I need? Well, I find myself more often than not reaching for the Spectrum ST Telecaster to do whatever guitar line I'm farting about with... and more often than not, it's the line that I'll use in the tune.
There's not too many tones I cannot get with some judicious use of outboard sound processing; admittedly, it won't do humbucker crunch particularly well but, gee whiz... you can get pretty bloody close!
I have a neckthru H/H, a H/S/H and a H/S/S on the rack beside me with the bass and the ST, and none of the others is a slouch by any means, but that Telecaster sound lends itself to being bent and twisted in SO many ways that it has become the "go-to' guitar!!

I'm simply staggered....

I'm not surprised really. I think the Telecaster was Leo Fender's most brilliant design. It's an amazingly versatile instrument.

Blues, Country, Rock and, for crying out loud, even Jazz ...nothing seems to be beyond the range of the Tele configuration.

I came to appreciate it's talents very late, sadly, too late to have realized it during my playing years.

It's such a solid design that even when it doesn't rigidly follow Leo's original plan it's still pretty damn satisfying.

I have always considered the Tele as the "Go to" electric guitar for singer song writers. Easy to strum, pluck, pick, slide, etc and a huge arsenal of tones available in it's most basic form, guitar - lead - amp. They balance on the strap, look the dogs, a classic masterful design.

Agree. Each 6 months or so I pick a guitar to be my main gigging guitar. First 6 months of last year it was a Telecaster Lite-Ash, this year it's a Spectrum GT. Tbh the Spectrum does have a little more flexibility but the Telecaster was so easy to play (3 vs 28 pickup options) and could get a little more twang when required.
