Re: Your rig right now?
My house guitar is about 2 threads down - Bougainville Avenger and a tiny Kustom amp; works really well!!
My shed set up is a little more complex; guitar amplification is a 500W Peavey PA with HUGE bins containing a loaded horn and a 15" Etone speaker, one of those bins is double-miked into a mixing desk and thence to a USB interface into a computer and back out through said interface into a Wharfedale PA for monitoring. The guitars out presently are an Aria Pro LC440, Electra Phoenix X195, Westone Genesis 2, Vantage Avenger X-99 and the "new" Spectrum SX, all running through an old Boss ME3 through a small mixer.

Love that Manhattan too Chad!
My setup changes every few weeks, but at the moment, since you axe, it looks like this:

I normally rotate out 3 electric and 1 acoustic/acoustic-electric at a time. If I'm in a wild and crazy mood it'll be FOUR electric guitars!
4 of the 5 amps are always available to plugin. The Roland (which is what I used onstage) is too damn loud to play in the house so it sits majestically on its elevated stand, under cover.
Oh, and there's a 40-watt floor monitor in the corner which is not being used here. (also for stage use). And the small PA speakers are out of range of these pix.

The Manhattan is just classy, eh; however, I really dig the Quest take on the Urchin shape - Atak 5, I think?
Hey Barry...those Yorkville amps are pretty good gear; 2 bands I was in in the 80s and 90s used Yorkville sound reinforcement kit, bought used from PA rental outfits and they were easy to use, sounded great through good bins and light on the muscles at the end of the night!!

Re: Your rig right now?
We had a Yorkville mixer amp for years in the band and as you say, rock solid, easy to use and handle. Mine are much smaller amps (90/100 watts), strictly for small room use. My floor monitor is also Yorkville.corsair wrote:...those Yorkville amps are pretty good gear; 2 bands I was in in the 80s and 90s used Yorkville sound reinforcement kit, bought used from PA rental outfits and they were easy to use, sounded great through good bins and light on the muscles at the end of the night!!
Yorkville Sound was formed in Toronto, and the Yorkville & Traynor brands were ubiquitous "back in the day". The company is still Canadian and builds a lot of their gear here, but their entry level stuff (like my PA's) is Chinese made. The newer gear is OK but it doesn't have the magic of the originals. In fact, IIRC our old board may have been point to point wiring. No PC board to crack there!

Re: Your rig right now?
I was obviously inspired by Damian's Amp Day post, lol.
John, we need a pic of your set up! Whether it's as majestic as Barry's or not (that is nice, Barry...), it's just fun to see!

Re: Your rig right now?
My house set-up is in here, under "house set-up" or something similar, and I think the latest incarnation of the shed kit is under "home recording"....
but since you ask...

I've found using that Peavey PA amp and the bins is just brilliant for the cleans that recording seemd to thrive on; I can add overdrive or distortion - or in fact any damn guitar sound I want!! - via the wee Boss FX.

Re: Your rig right now?
Love the rig, someone's been doing some recording recently?! I hadn't seen your post regarding recording, my apologies. What have you been doing with the recordings, have you shared them online anywhere or is it a simply a pursuit for personal enjoyment?

Re: Your rig right now?
It's a funny thing - I can spend an inordinate amount of time piddling about in here playing, recording and mixing but I feel a bit odd if anyone wants to hear what I've done!!
So, yeah - basically for my own entertainment, Chad!!
