XA1440 Corsair Deluxe - which would you choose, Metallic Pink or Chrome Yellow?

i'm digging through my piles of stuff and i came across a body i got off ebay a while back, a Corsair Deluxe XA1440 chrome yellow. the body came with only just the spring claw and screws and 3 springs, the tremolo anchors and posts, the output jack and plate, and the control cavity cover. it seems to have had a slight bit of hacking and trimming to get some other pickups to fit at some point in the past. mostly not damaged too much. so just to see what it looks like, i may just do a body swap to have some fun, the yellow for the pink. just to see what it looks like since i've never found a complete guitar in the chrome yellow.

i've also got a black one. the XA1440 is surely one of my favorite Westone guitars. the neck, the pickups, just excellent.

my black one has a slanted heel where the neck attaches.
both the pink and the yellow bodies have the flat heel in the back to accommodate a neck plate, so the pink and the yellow are pretty much the same. it should make for a quick and easy changeover...

which color would you choose, pink or yellow?

Mate. Pink, obviously. Well, with my history, you'd expect something else?!? :-)

I looked and looked early on in my Westone acquistion phase  for an XA 1440, but alas; it was not to be! I don't think I ever even saw one for sale, especially in my favoured Metallic Pink!

Could the bolt neck .v. neckplate be MIK .v. MIJ? I'm pretty sure my Spectrum II is MIK and it has the shaped heel with proper bolts, whereas my Clipper 4112 has a neckplate and a Bendmaster bridge rather than the TRS 101 and could quite possibly be MIJ...

as a straight choice, i'd go for the chrome yellow.  the metallic pink just doesn't 'sing' to me (perhaps a bit muddy, as i like primary colours).  that said, i wouldn't be doing a body swap, anyway.

FWIW, i have a cort X-11 in anthracite with a flame maple top.  it's a real looker.

Westone kinda lost me when the body designs went into this "big horn", flat square body phase. I much prefer the artistry of the Spectrum/Pantera/Genesis, etc.

So, neither one for me.

... i never liked the les paul style, until i got the ltd ec-50 (from a charity shop). you have to live with a guitar before you can really know whether it does anything for you. another example is that i didn't like PRS guitars. and now there's a drop-dead gorgeous one on eBay that i simply can't afford.

... so, i'm guessing that you wouldn't like my cort X-11, because the body is exactly that profile, albeit with a carved top.

~ As soon as you disassemble the pink, a NOS yellow one will show-up on the 'bay.  I say leave it as-is... that pink is amazing.

... i think you'll find that you have to do the disassembly first! ;-)

though i do agree with you, albeit for a different reason - it's original as-is.

Pink.  Though you may like the yellow if you try it?
