Westone Concord 1 (1982) guitar - replacement bridge available for sale?
Hi all
I have a 1982 Westone Concord 1 (2010689) that I purchased from new in 1982. It is a wee bit battered and needs a bit of a tidy up (& rewiring, pots, switches, jack) and I plan on fitting a new scratch-plate. At one point it was in the garage in a case and the bridge is a bit tarnished so I'd like to replace it. Does anyone know if there is an after-market bridge available for this model? It looks to be 70mm wide and 40mm deep. I have scoured eBay but not found anything exactly the same. I do not want to drill holes in the body so am looking for a direct replacement bridge plus saddles if anyone knows of any please...
Regards
Shakey

Hi Shakey and welcome.
Ya know, I'd rather save my money and the heartache of searching, and simply cleanup the original.
Most of us pick up our Westones in "used" condition, and many are awful looking. Tarnish is simply a fact of life. It's a nuisance but not fatal, and usually easily restored. Corrosion and pitting however requires a bit more thought.
How about some pix when your able to post? We'll have abetter idea of what you're talking about.

Most of the Westone hardware is odd in size specific just to Westone

Thanks Westbone & Barry
Yeah, I was thinking that the bridge itself looks okay so I might look around for saddles that match as it's really only those that need replacing (esp the screws as they definitely need replacing). Electronics are problematic but I am okay with a soldering iron so will get new pots and switches and keep the original pups cos I still like them (even after all these years)...
Thanks guys

Before you replace anything, try a few liberal squirts of electrical contact cleaner in the pots and jack. (Do not use WD40 on the electronics!)
Work the pots vigorously and reapply if needed. What you're hearing is corrosion on the wipers and contact points and that can usually be removed easily.
Similarly, if you remove the bridge and disassemble it, a good soaking in Naptha and a scrub with a toothbrush will do wonders to clean up most of the crud. This time do use WD40 on the intonation and bridge screws to loosen them up.
