Serial number - I can't find this one anywhere...please somebody help
Hi, I am interested in a Westone I have seen..having looked on the web and through this forum, I understand that there is Westone, Westone and Westone... What I have not beeen able to do is get any onfo on the serial number : HY 09035678 . I understood the H to be for the month, but as there are two letters, I am confused... Can anyone point me in the right direction, please ? The model is a LP type with two humbuckers and four control knobs plus the typical pick-up selector.

Hello nik62es and welcome to the Forums.
A picture would help once you've waited the mandatory 1 week for new members (helps prevent SPAMmers).
If you like you can send me the pix and I'll post for you. Just click on the email button under my avatar.
Meantime, an 8 digit number generally indicates a Koren build, not Matsumoku which is what we focus on here. We think the first 2 numbers indicate the year and the next 2 the month, so it could be March 2009 build, or maybe '89? No idea what the HY represents, possibly the manufacturing plant.
Hope that helps a bit.

German supplier made in China model XL10. Bass wood body with maple veneer. Maple neck.
Just another LP knockoff.
Nothing to do with Westone apart from the name.
Musik Meyer of Germany bought the right to use the name Westone.

Hi Barry, thanks for the offer, I have send you the pics, rather bad quality as it comes from a web where this is for sale...but I think the next poster has likely hit the nail on the head..and this may well be a chinese one..in which case it is not what I am looking for..

Westbone has nailed it, Chinese.
Your pix confirm it. Here ya go:

If you like Westone, have a look about for a Matsumoku made instrument. It'll quickly make you forget this one!
Thanks for the contribution.

Thank you very much Barry..I like japanese guitars in general, specially from the 60/70's..for being somewhat quirky..nt too much into serious stuff like Fender and Tokai, etc... They are very sober.. don't get me wrong, I am not collecting pretty toys to look at either, but I like my guitars to have that special something (or simply be dirt cheap). The good thing is I get to know some interesting makes and their history. Thanks again, all the help is much appreciated.

Hi, can someone tell me where to find the serial nr?
Can't find it, not under the coverplates on the back or on the top.. Really weird.

Re: Serial number - I can't find this one anywhere...please somebody help
Hello Scorpious and welcome.
You are talking about a different guitar here so you are actually off-topic, but to partly answer your question you can read about the signature Lynch Corsair on our website HERE
I do not know if the Signature models carried serial numbers or not but it's doubtful because of the low number. Possibly they came with a certificate originally?
And these are not Matsumoku instruments, they were built in Korea circa 1990.
You can find a few other references on the site as well, just use the Search box.
BTW: The image upload does work. As you were notified already, new members are restricted from posting hyperlinks and images for 7 days as an anti-SPAM measure.

I put a question mark after my comment about a certificate because I was speculating. I have no information one way or the other.
If there was a certificate included there would only be one, otherwise there is no point in having it if it can be duplicated, is there?
This is a 30+ yr old guitar and you are not likely to find much info on it. The best I can suggest is that you try contacting St Louis Music and see if they can help further.

No duplicating wouldnt do any good.
I was aiming for the Westone company... Since they build it ( perfectly) and send the certificate along with it.
... I just realise I have it for 28 years now... And it practically looks as new... Love this guitar

Re: Serial number - I can't find this one anywhere...please somebody help
I am happy that you love your guitar but you need to do your homework man!
Please go to our website and read about Westone in the History section.
There is no "Westone" company. Westone was the house brand/label of Matsumoku, Japan.
But your instrument was NOT made by Matsumoku, nor was it made in Japan. It is Korean as already stated, and made for St Louis Music USA.
Please contact them for any info that they might have about your guitar.
