Music Landmarks Map Empty Music Landmarks Map

Post by Spiritinthesky99 Thu Sep 04, 2014 3:40 am

New free App out called Rocking All Over The World which is looking for music fans to send in any music landmarks they might know.

The App shows landmarks of historic gigs, festivals, stars' birth places, locations of a famous album sleeves, video shoots, gravestones etc.

If you have any landmarks, photos, reminiscences or memorabilia, you can load them into the App.

Landmarks. Good riddance, modern times. If I were a war fan maybe. Or rather, I'dd start a good fight!
Who the F**k needs apps to listen or play or extend existing memory.
Another way to make easy money? What's wrong with the narrow-minded schooled youth of today. Are they bored?

An app to track the declining natural resources or the exponential death of species, or the melting permafrost, the changing climate, overpopulation...
History not according to say Naom Chomsky as app. Very entertaining escapism.
I'm sorry, I worry. It's non Westone discussions after all. There is no after all however and the youth has never been more unaware and indifferent to 'no future' (yes gen. X if it means anything to the ignorant). Have fun cherising what has gone and will never come back...

Nice idea for an app,  if I'm in a different town or country I'd surely like to visit a landmark of significance,.

I can understand jim's opinion, coming from a country who's musical output is pretty much non existent, unless you

Absolutely no interest in seeing John Lennon's home.
Elvis's pad
Phil Lynott's statue.
Or Cheryl Tweedy's council house... Mad

The app is free, for starters, and while I don't fancy it as such, I would imagine there are plenty that would; maybe I don't want to see Lennons' childhood home bug I'll wager there are plenty of trainspotters that would!! Laughing
The Dutch, Sgt, gave us Shocking Blue, Golden Earring and - most importantly IMO - Focus!! Cool

Good advice, Damian; calm down, Jim.

I don't know what your agenda is here, and frankly, I don't care.

The app is free is Australia - and I mentioned the bands because I like them.

Whatever it is that you're pissed off about, please take it elsewhere.

Thanks Damian. Point taken I'll drop the subject. Sometimes this angry old man in me becomes too frustrated by the trivial concerns of the youth of today chasing their own tails. I'm sorry I mentioned 'the war'. Wink

No personal pun intended John!
I'm sorry for bothering you with my frustration about a world in turmoil. Keep in mind however this was posted in 'non Westone discussions'!

This totally unnecessary app just triggered my reaction about the utter ignorance of smart IT professionals, I hope you understand I am worried about why educated people think up such nonsense. As if I couldn't look up eg. historical Bob Dylan video's, interviews or wikipage's. It simply insults my intelligence but what's more worrying to me is why young educated people put such effort and work in an app that doesn't benefit anybody not even themselves! While society is about to be destroyed by climate change, the investments in high technological weapons (even tactical nuclear) for destruction (enormous numbers) for which the taxpayer pays, not the financial sector or the politicians that work in the interest of corporations that have become to big and powerful to fail. In a meantime the killing goes on and the wealth gap is broadened (Piketty). When I read your signature I immediately had to think of a snippet of the start of a documentary made by Jamie Johnson which deals with croquet: The One Percent Kind of hilarious if it wasn't so saddening. Personally I liked the social and political comment in the music back in the sixties, seventies and eighties (maybe earlier given the Calypso tradition!). Anyway, I never intended to hurt anyone or take the fun out of this good natured forum. If I did I apologise.

Sure, music is about nationality... Guess who's behind the drumkit...

Anyway, personally I simply love this tune and I don't care about about the country of origin or the individual players that speak the 'universal language'. (RIP Idris Muhammad!)

You might like it. Although the majority is unaware of this universal culture. I don't really care. Just for fun and no, naturally I can't be offended by your remark. Very Happy Just wanted to share: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq4VuNNeEAE
Now there's a great groove and musicianship in my book! An homage to Frank van Dok, percussionist of the 'New Cool Collective' It's all right! T
rying to bring back the fun. Enjoy Sgt.!

OK... apology accepted. Let's all move ahead, eh?!

I will comment on closing, though, that whilst the first world is disappearing up its own fundamental orifice at an ever-increasing pace, railing aginst what you see as a world gone mad on a specialist guitar brand website is hardly going to change it, is it?! Very Happy

... and for the record, I think Thijs van Leer is a genius!

Nice one. Been there done that! But as it happened, turned out I have too much original ideas myself already! Don't need extra stimiulation!
Like Sly Stone said "it doesn't add up" But funny enough he didn't get it after all...  Whilst I love the guy for his unsurpassed creative outings.
I'm not picky but thanks for a cheer and a good laugh. Satchmo got inspired by it before the rastafari movement happened and we lost so many musical talents to the mainstream harddrugs, people don't realise. We are history! Now more than ever before. Follow me?
