Fretless GUITAR (not bass!) on UK eBay...

Not entirely sure what would possess anyone to do this in the first place, but if you've got a spare Speccy neck knocking around, then this could be a bit of a bargain...

Dude looks like he was using it as a 3 string guitar, a la Seasick Steve. BUT, you do that with a piece of cr@p guitar, not a powerhouse Spectrum!! And you don't de-fret the thing.
What a bloody shame. Still, the body seems unmolested. 

Presumably the remedial work to restore the frets would be do-able for someone with the right skills.

Yeah, the bridge looks grungy. Should scrub up OK.

If the frets have been unceremoniously "ripped" out of the board and the kerfs filled in (with what??) that makes it a tougher operation than simply inserting a new set of teeth. Depending on how things were removed, there's no guarantee as to whether the wood is solid enough to hold the new fret tangs. Might get by with jumbo frets if yer lucky.

I had my eye on that one too. Slightly over my budget in the end. Oh well, next time...

So I guess it WILL look good with the blue burst one afterall!    
I made the mistake of bidding all in too early, which tied up my cash so I couldn't get the concord 3 in blue!  Live and never learn eh!

The guitar will be sold on. Only really interested in the case.

Worked out better than I thought. The putty was easy to remove.

These Alder bodied Speccy III's with this trem make the 45's sound very good. Much clearer sounding but still with plenty of guts.

Sounded real crap without frets, dull!..

The guy had been playing it with a bow hence the rosin all over the bridge.

It was that last pic that gave me The Willies, looked like it was really buggered up. Happy to hear that it wasn't!
