Thunder II Active bass.
Hi, I have had for almost 30 years a Westone Thunder II Active bass bought in the Mid 80's. Serial No. 2011433. Original hard case, Canadian ash body,24 fret, almost mint factory order including all hardware, frets, neck condition, restrung with roundwound recently. All electronics functioning perfectly, couple of superficial nicks in lacquer on body, non visible from front, before purchased. Never gigged. Was wondering about it's original age according to Serial No. and it's realistic market value?
I would post pictures of it but have only registered today.
If any info is forthcoming,I can post pics of it if necessary.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Thunder II Active bass.
Like the 'Version 1' half way down the page here?:

From the serial number, yours is an '82 model, possibly January, as per the info towards the middle of the page, here:

As for value, you don't say where you are, but in the UK, I'd personally expect to pay £300 to £400 for a Thunder II of that vintage in good nick...

Re: Thunder II bass
Thank you Punkyjam, information was much appreciated.
It is an '82 as per your link. It was bought a couple of years later I think. Version two definitely.
Yeah I am in the Uk.
Would you know if the nicks in the lacquer could be repaired with something or by someone, as I would like to return it to it's pristine condition if possible?.

Re: Thunder II Active bass.
A method I (and many others here) use is a superglue drop-fill,
You'll need some wet'n'dry sandpaper for this, I finish off with a T-Cut type polish, Maguires Ultimate Compound for a gloss finish, get it at Halfords.
good luck

A version 2 (presumably with 'P' & 'J' style pickups), but with a 24-fret neck? Don't think I've seen one in that configuration before. You'll definitely have to post some pics once 'probation' is over

Re: Thunder II bass pictures
Thanks Sgt Vimes for your advice on repair, much appreciated.
As far as pics are concerned, I have just understood I cannot post external links to pictures for 7 days, which is a lot better than the 3 months I thought?!.
I will be patient and post them in a week or so.

Re: Thunder II Active bass.
Looking forward to seeing the photos, as I've never seen a 24 fret version of this bass. Could be worth way more if its a one off.

Re: Thunder II bass pictures
Thanks Mr Shakedown or should I just call you Clive?
According to this link it is a Thunder II active fretless.
http://www.westoneguitars.net/basses/thunder/
In that it is identical to the Number 4 example,version1.
1981-82,Canadian Ash body laminated with Maple and Walnut.
But fretted with 24's. As you can see, the patterning of the Ash is not bad!
Here are some images,I hope.
If these do not work,i'd appreciate some assistance to post them on here. I have copies of them on my pc and posted on Imgur.com.
Thanks in advance,
Mr T.

Re: Thunder II Active bass.
Nice one Mr T. I was confused about the pick ups, I thought it was a 24 fretter with a p and a j pick up.
Here's some pictures of mine...SNAP...sort of!
