sale - MMK61's for sale Empty MMK61's for sale

Post by Catalyst Wed Mar 26, 2014 8:47 am

There are a couple of 61's for sale here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221402017831?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I wasn't aware they even came in matching sets for bridge and neck but it says in the description that the neck is around 8 with the bridge reading 14  scratch

I just thought a 61 was a 61??

Please enlighten me someone, there's bound to be something I'm missing...

Yeah, the postage, £10 is another... Evil or Very Mad

Can post a whole guitar throughout the UK for less than that!

I pay 15 to post a full guitar. Who do you use, that's less than a tenner, out of interest..?

But, yeah - a tenner to post a pair of pickups...?!

Typical of eBay sellers all over the world, they're attempting to make money on the %^&*# shipping! Transportation costs have gone up but...really?

I'm very surprised with these "MMK61"
I wouldn't buy them without knowing which guitar they come from
because
I've never seen a 14Kh MMK61
I've never seen any 45, 53, 61, 75 without "MMK" (but I know MMK61 without any stamp or with "FS" stamp)
I'm not sure "61" writting is the same as 61 of MMK (It could be "19")

This is MMK61 from my Aria PII TA-50

I've some 45's that are just stamped 45 from a Westone.
Maybe some pup bottoms are not embossed with MMK, who knows?

I'll dig 'em out and take a shot or two.... drunken

Those bottoms, apart from the markings are different.

Whatever they're from I wouldn't pay that money regardless.

Some guys over here are charging £30 and the rest.
Questioned one fella about it and his reply...that old chestnut....insurance, packing materials, his time!!
Pointed out that the courier he uses charges £12.99 and without a case insurance is null and void.
As for materials, don't mind a wee bit. His time, stick it where the sun don't shine.

Hi All.

Shipping costs always seem to be an issue so thought I would share my experience.

I have shipped many guitars around the UK, all in hard cases, and luckily never had a problem. I can use one of the couriers at my workplace and get it there for less than a tenner.  However I have stoppeddoing it this way as I cannot insure a second hand item using a courier. Sounds crazy I know but I had an issue one time with a pair of skis that were damaged and that's when it became apparent.

So now I use royal mail who will insure a second hand item. It usually costs £20-25 depending on the weight including insurance up to £500.

Thought that was worth a mention. It would be bad for something to go wrong and a courier not honour the pay out. Cheers

I've never got my head around this parcel insurance malarky.

Surely, if I pack my parcel up suitably, and it's damaged in transit, it's the couriers responsibility. Why should I pay to insure my parcel because someone else lobs it around without any care??

 confused

Guitars in transit will only be covered by insurance if in a hard case.
Otherwise it's null and void.

I've not come across any courier that will insure any musical instrument, hard case or no,  I've read all the small print on Tnt,  City link,  yodel etc... Not one will insure em, so I don't bother paying the extra to cover it.

Yeah but if I remember correctly (smoked out memory bad at the best of times)  that doesn't cover musical instruments, could be wrong though...
