Westone "case candy" what is it?

I opened the little door inside my Thunder 1A bass case and found a key to the case, a truss rod key, and a mystery object, I have probably never opened this door before, and I wonder what the steel bar is for?
it's just an unremarkable steel bar.
any ideas?

Yup. A very civilized way to make an adjustment too. Quick and tidy.
Dunno why it's in a Thunder case though. Perhaps the previous owner had no place else to store it?

Here's a Westone that needs it. Also it's the same on a couple of Spectrums and the Dynasty I think.
