Stupid Strats... they've finally hooked me.
A Strat has found me, although I've never cared for them before. Made the mistake of buying it and now I love it.
1989 (me thinks) MIJ Fender Strat with Kahler Steeler. Original and in excellent condition except for the pickguard and probably the pickups, which I don't know anything about. Plays and sounds fantastic.
So now I like Strats. Hmmm. Never thought I'd say that. Although I've lived just long enough to know to almost never say say "never".

Thanks Alan, you have 2! I really like this thing. Only gripe is that I wish it had bigger frets. Maybe I'll do that one day.

I like the look of her Chad.
I've never been a big fan of Strats either.
But...every once in awhile, one pops up at the shop and, ya know...it plays kinda nice.
Still cannot get along wif the centre pup though! Thrash the heck out of it.

Nice Score there Chad Mate...
Must admit to being the same as some people, Love them but can't get away with them normally...
Not one thing in general just after a while they go to other homes an i start again looking for a decent one...Small frets are ok though do like jumbo ones more but if it was a Fender i was after i have no trouble with tele's just the strats...
Though The Sterling SUB Series Silo i got has me hooked for now...
There's a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker an a Wilkinson WVS trem with 2 posts an bent steel saddles and block that should be coming soon to go on her an make her more what i'm after...
Think Barry an me agree on Music Man are really underrated guitars..

I know, that center pup is a pain. I'm keep thrashing the poor thing. Thought about lowering it, but I use it so that doesn't work. Something about that Strat sound, it's somewhat hollow and spongy, love it. Nothing like a cranked up humbuggy, but it's great in its own way.
And GAS man, I won't believe that you have a Sterling SUB until you post photos.

Re: Stupid Strats... they've finally hooked me.
Yup. Love the Axis line in particular (2 puppers!) but we also have a couple of Silhouette models at the shop which sound fantastic. Gives the Strats a good run for the money. And with one of the best necks and trem bridges ev-er!G.A.S. man wrote:...Think Barry an me agree on Music Man are really underrated guitars..

Re: Stupid Strats... they've finally hooked me.
I've had four Silhouettes over the years & they were all brilliant guitars in their own way (like all Music Man stuff), but none of them were keepers for me.
I had two with Strat-type pickups that I never really got on with (I've had to admit that I just don't like the sound of single coils...), but the two 'humbuckered' ones were beasts! As usual, though (with me, at least...), they still weren't totally right - I was using a lot of trem at the time, but the one with a Floyd Rose had a maple fingerboard which I've always disliked, whereas the one with the nice rosewood board didn't have a trem...
As for Strats - I can't abide the things for some reason! I have a mate who used to lend me his (then) brand new mid-80s US-made Strat as backup guitar for gigs & I used to pray every time I wouldn't break a string...!
I did buy myself a MIM 'Fat Strat' in the '90s (it was less than £100 brand new in a catalogue return shop, so too good to pass up!), which played nicely & sounded very good, but there's just something about them that annoys me, so it lasted a couple of years before it was on its way...

Re: Stupid Strats... they've finally hooked me.
Great looking guitar Chad, never had or played a guitar with a Floyd rose trem system yet (what am I missing!!!), so not sure how I would get on with it but an early MIJ strat sounds appealing.
I bought my first strat in 1987 for some shows in Canada, it's a Strat plus with lace sensor gold pickups and has been an excellent all round work horse ever since although these days I prefer a bit more bite from my pups.
I suppose as a creature of habit my Westone choices to date have been the Cutlass classic/prestige/corsairs and most recently the Concord III, all stratish in design, so I guess I must like Strats , although I do love a decent tele neck for pure playability every time.

G'day, Damian!! Yeah... strats have an 'X' factor, don't they; I've got one as well albeit heavily modded.
How can you play Shadows covers on anything else?!

Oh yeay, nice score! Where'd you find it? Is the pickguard original? "362" is also stamped in my MIJ Strat neck pocket, that's why I ask. I represents the '62 model strats from Japan. Are you on Strat-Talk?

SA Chad. Pickguard is original, that's a ali shield underneath the guard itself.
No not on Strat-Talk. Just here and the Alfa forum is enough for me.

Very cool to find that vintage, great guitar there. That black and white is very old rock. Bet that thing has some stories to tell.
