But not the time, as we're 'tarting' up the house and moving on.

Can't live in this shiite area called London any more, turning into a slum around here.
Let the fookers have it. What a fook up! Thanks Gov.co.uk

That's my little moan... Smile

Damian

If you are not happy then you are doing the best thing. Life is too short to compromise when it comes to your daily living space.

The good thing is that you will reap the benefits of London selling prices and hopefully get yourself a pile of bricks in an old established community where its values are more akin to your own.

Good luck to you. It will probably be the best decision you make in your life.

Well, I see! That is crazy! How is it possible?! What kind of people throw out their garbage and furniture on the streets?! I am in a schock! Have never seen anything like that here in Sweden and when I grew up I lived in one of the areas where people did not want to stay, one of the ghettos. But it never looked like that! Mad

Immigrants/asylum seekers from so called 3rd world countries.
London's full of them.
Come from a s**t hole and treat this place the same, they know no better, it's the norm. and this toothless council don't fine them! They give them bins.
We have to buy our own! Man, England's fooked!!

I see, in my ears that sounds just crazy! How can this go on? Don´t you have any rules that aplies to these people as well? Or are they exceptions? I am glad not living in England then. We have our problems as well but this is still something I have never ever seen here in Sweden. There are places where people are afraid of going out after six a clock in the evening. This because that all trash (criminals and drug addicts that do not care about other people or other peoples property) ends up here (or (unfortunately) the ones that can´t afford to live any other place. This is also the places where you have the (only (if not lucky)) chance to get your first (rental) apartment when you have not been in any cue for several years?

EDIT: Wrote in some more text.

It's the way of globalisation I suppose... Don\'t Know

Open border policies to entice needed workers for the less than attractive employment opportunities that the indigenous population has deemed beneath them, the transplants refuse to integrate themselves into their adoptive society, they breed out the very citizens who brought them in (or allowed them easy access in) and soon more money is spent in the public education system on classes/studies in tolerance and ESL than properly preparing the next generation for productive citizenship.

How's that for the low, low rate of only 2¢??

And we have far too many neighborhoods in the urban areas... large and small, of my country as well to be pointing out specks in the eyes of other countries. And this is coming to you live from what was at one time thought of as the world's melting pot.

Not so much anymore... No no no

Many of the Eastern Europeans coming to this country seem to have no problems at all finding jobs. I have personal experience of them, particularly Polish people, and I find them to be earnest, honest, hard working and respectful.

At the same time, we have a small hard core of feckless native Britons, who won't work and expect the tax payer to provide all for them and their uncontrolled reproductive habits.

Because of the nature of the European Community agreements, we not only invite those decent people who want to work and who want to live in decent surroundings, but we also permit access to other nations underclasses who see our benefits system as a soft touch.

Personally, although I have a lot of respect for many of our recent migrants, I feel that we should first deal with our own work shy and thereafter, permit access to other citizens only if we have a job here that we require them to do.

Canada, while not quite at the stage the UK is currently in, is sliding down that proverbial slippery slope. We tend to eventually follow Britain's lead.

Agreed there are some lovely folks arriving and contributing to the common good, but Political Correctness is slowly crippling the Western world and shows no signs of letting up. And, as I write this, Justin Trudeau, Pierre's number one son, has just been elected the Liberal Party leader. Lord help us all if he ever becomes PM. There's Lovely!! I can vouch for Damian in that my parents live a few miles east of where I'm guessing he lives judging from his location and the council link
I'd say there about 5 years behind where Redbridge is now but working hard to catch up, the house next to my parents is owned by a charity of some description and the tenants tend to stay for anywhere between 3 and 12 months. I understand this may not be long enough to class somewhere as home but no excuse to treat it like a tip, there is regularly furniture and multiple bin bags in the drive and at one point a couple of feral cats called it home.

West is the way forward mate, if there were any jobs I'd be down in North Devon

Post by jim Mon Apr 15, 2013 11:17 am

Damian, blaming it on asylum seekers and cheap labourers from 3rd world countries seems a bit unfair. Yes there is a problem, no denying. The biggest mistake in today's western society's I feel is this. People tend to forget how easy it is to condition a child's proper behaviour. Stick with it and it becomes a habit in no time. They will act accordingly without even thinking about it for it has become a habit. If however, these habits are not taught to people as kids it proves ten times harder to, as an adult, first de-conditioning bad habits before imprinting new, good habits!

I see it around me everywhere, filthy habits taking over, but it is certainly not restricted to asylum seekers instead it includes the spoiled, white, wasted rich and middle class and also tourists!! Youngsters becoming pill swallowing party-animals and alcohol-abusers leaving trash on the street has become so common it has become mainstream! I don't even blame them as much as I do their parents and our politicians! If you're unable to educate your kids, don't $%# take 'm for $#@sake!

One other thing is that it is not enough to adopt a foreigner from a different culture if one doesn't feel equally responsible to educate them and learn them how they're supposed to behave, that is highly political!
It is one thing to do away with apartheid it is another to learn a new way to behave as you obviously know. Political rulers however often live 'úptown', not in the outskirts.

Some would say there is a corporate elite that benefits the most from social unrest and chaos in the middle of society where issues become racist, nationalist or whatever and groups fight groups, the attention is thereby taken away from the banksters and corporations, the untouchable almost abstract entities that are meanwhile stealing all our taxmoney. The trend still being the wealthy elite getting richer and the poor getting poorer. I can feel your frustration and I lived through other crisis but seen from a more filosofical view I think it has a lot to do with the narcistic society and corrupted moral standards of our western hypocritic goverments that work not to the benefit of it's citizens but to the benefits of big corporations. It might have to do with a paradigm that teaches evolution is about survival of the fittest while Darwin can be interpreted otherwise we were taught the survival of the fittest theory and still act according to some of it's principals. Empathy is where moral standards originate even before there was religion. Hate and greed is not going to change things for the better. This is sort of how I think about it. If only we could live in a less ugly environment...

It's getting a tad off topic here! Some pics of my street 2 year's ago, some things changed to the better but the habits sort of remain, why would that be?... Link

I cannot stand litter or those responsible so this is what I did once. A driver eating a macdonalds wound down his window and tossed the packaging out of the car - bin located 1 metre away from his door. I tapped his window, he wound I'd down slightly and I asked him to put it in the bin - result - a torrent of abuse. Unfortunately for him his sun roof was open so he got his litter back anyway. Unfortunately for his upholstery the drink he had with the meal wasn't empty.
