Thunder 1 Walnut Empty Thunder 1 Walnut

Post by hoax Sat Mar 02, 2013 3:56 pm

The recent price hike in UK for Thunder 1's has spurred me on to grab another Thunder project, before they become too precious.

I already have red, black and natural and my new one (coming next week) is another natural.

I am toying with the idea of refinishing in walnut - of course, I will leave the contrasting centre stripes.

Any thoughts?

Love the plan. Sounds cool. I would cover the whole front, shave off quarter inch then add a quarter inch thick top. I think it would look great with the stripes showing from the bottom edge.
Just thinking out loud

Walnut's nice b-u-t. . . I'm wondering if something completely different like a trans white or a "limed" white might work. In the spirit of a Les Paul Junior TV Yellow. No?

It arrived and I have started to post progress pics in the members Westones section.

Thanks for your input guys. I am going to keep it simple by just staining the wings and either lacquering or finishing with tru oil.
