No, no, no, nothing life threatening or anything like that!
I just felt the urge to rock 'n' roll, ya know?
Now, considering the hell of the past year, this was a tremendous feeling to get back! Playing is as much about getting into the right head space as it is physical ability. So often, I have tried to play but it has ended in frustration because I was trying to "intellectualize" where my fingers should be instead of just playing the bloody thing. It was a total brain/finger disconnect at times.
Not so much yesterday. I had that "old feeling" and I even turned on the PA!
Since these were out on rotation, I started off with the Vantage VW150 acoustic, then progressed to the Vantage Entertainar. Then...I picked up the Westone Thunder I-A.
That's when I think I wet myself...just a little. I had forgotten just what a friggin' beast this guitar is! Holy Canada Goose Poop, what a monster!! The action, the tonal variety, the playability, and the output!!! It truly rocked me back on my heels momentarily.
The amp was still set for the Entertainar (sic) which itself is no slouch with her double MMK45's. But the jump in volume when the Thunder was plugged in was truly startling, even though I knew it was coming!
So my friends...daddy's once again dry of pants.
And even though I do own other guitars, which I also enjoy playing, it is the Mats guitars that consistently make me shake my head. And smile.
I love my Mats.

I've been going through that a lot myself this year John, perhaps for slightly different reasons, but still.
It's a bugger of a feeling when the urge to play leaves you. But it's like being re-born when it comes back! Hang in there matey. It will bite you in the arse one day when you least expect it!

Re: Yesterday I scared myself...just a little...but I love my Mats!
When I was injured and in pieces and could not walk or do much of anything I always listened to my music and focused on trying to see the chords and notes in my head and as I grew stronger and better the music was always there but not being able to play was a bummer. I worked hard and set a goal to begin playing no matter what and before I knew it I was playing again and soon after walking again. there is power in the music that keeps us all motivated and moving so always strive to play when and where you can no matter what life throws at you. Music is a powerfull motivator and a great way to regain focus, movement, and enjoyment. Keep on Rocking....

That's great Barry!
I think the same thing when I pull the Dynasty out (which ain't all that often). And the other day I pulled out the X940 for the first time in a week, plugged it in and strummed a C chord and it blew me away! There's just something very special about our Mats.
I thank God for music, and the ability to make it.

Every day is a blessing. Some are good some are not as good.
I've got arthritis in my thumbs but on a good day, oh oh well look out cuz things are a rocking.. LOUD
We all have our ups and downs and if you look at a cardiograph - it's a sign of life.
Enjoy every minute of it - ever think about the value of each milisecond - ask a SILVER medalist...
Make it count.
Rock on
