Re: Spectrum LX Japanese Flag
There was one for sale a year or two back; not sure where but it looked good....
I wonder if the graphic was a decal, or if it was painted on?

Re: Spectrum LX Japanese Flag
I would think since it was produced in an era when craftsmanship and quality were still a good thing that it was most likely painted on and topped with a clear coat. They are indeed seldom seen and I would also love to find one but I have never came across one in all my searches.

Re: Spectrum LX Japanese Flag
I was hoping for a close up picture of just the body then I could zoom in and match the size of the guitar then transpose it. I saw this post and it gave me the idea. I also pm'd him for pics.
Thanks guys

i also have a spectrum lx, likely an 85-86 model, it's got the japan flag paint job as listed on the index page
and from what i'm reading it has the bendmaster tremolo
i pulled this, my first guitar out of the closet this week and would like to get it in playing shape
everything seems to be ok so far except one of the saddle/bridge parts that has the 2 allan heads in it
all of them loosened except one, anyone have any spare parts for this?
i'm also needing to replace the 3-way toggle swith
any ideas or suggestions appreciated
Thanks guys

No, but I do look after westoneguitars.net.TVill25 wrote:Is Barry the admin of westoneinfo??? If so could you send me that photo so I can crop it etc. I don't want to use it without permission.
Sure I'll send you a copy, but it isn't any larger than what you see in the westone.info site.
By the way, looks like I messed up in the re-construction of the page containing that reference. Missed this one completely.
Thanks for pointing it out.

... and you do realise that that particular flag is the Imperial Japanese battle ensign from WW2, don't you?

Re: Spectrum LX Japanese Flag
Hadn't twigged to that John, but true enough. I understand that it's still viewed as offensive to many who suffered repression under Imperialist Japan. Triggers a similar reaction as the Nazi swastika does.
I now wonder if there was any ulterior motive behind putting in on an "invasion" guitar, or was it just some designer's idea of something cool?
Judging by the scarcity of this model, perhaps it was quickly pulled because of the negative reaction.

Re: Spectrum LX Japanese Flag
I think you'll find that the switch tip is the hard part to match. Electrically there's no magic in the switch itself and many standard off the shelf components should serve OK.
