Wanted: Tremolo Bar
[img][/img]
Help! I'm trying to locate a trem bar for this Bendmaster tremolo. I'd heard the correct arm was a 6mm threaded bar so I bought one from Stewmac but it didn't fit into the pentagonal nut-type thing that sits on top of the bridge! Does anyone have one for sale or know where I can buy one? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
The bar threads into the sustain block, not the collar; it just goes through that and into the thread in the block.

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
Hi Corsair, thank you for the info. Do you know where I might be able to find a bar to fit? I was very surprised to see the 6mm threaded bar I bought from Stewmac not fit in to the hole! I'm guessing the correct bar for the trem is smaller in diameter than most. Anyhow, any advice you might have on how I can locate a bar would be fantastic. Thank you!

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
Is the 6mm bar too big or too small? If it's too big then perhaps a 5mm bar would do, but I have to say that I'm really surprised that a 6mm one doesn't fit!!

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
The 6mm bar is too big. I bought a 5mm screw from a hardware store that I'm going to try tonight. If it fits in snug, I'll buy a 5mm bar and try it. I think the 5mm bars are commonly sold as "10-32" US Strat bars, correct?

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
It will be a 5mm thread you will need. I am 99&44/100% certain of it. A 10-32 will not properly thread into that collar and you will end up possibly damaging it. If nothing else take your guitar down to your local hardware shop and check it out in the bulk bins first.
At least you now have a wang for your Bendmaster Deluxe.... when you get that.

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
Every bar I've ever come across for those bridges has been 6mm.
Could be a one off, shouldn't think so though.
Sure there's not a broken one deep down inside??

Good point Damian, I'd not considered that.
All of my BMD's are 6mm but the FR copy on the Spectrum DLX is a 5mm which is why I was thinking the FT would be also.
Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
Update - upon closer inspection, there are no threads inside! Could this be a push-in bar??

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
No. I'm not aware of any Westone that had a push in trem arm. The Bendmaster FT used a 6mm screw in bar, if it won't go in, then either someone has replaced the collar with one that's too small (Try removing the collar and screwing the 6mm arm in without it) or the collar has been removed and the small nylon sleeve that fits under it has turned sideways stopping the arm going in, or the threads are stripped in the sustain block (The thread for the arm is in the block, the collar doesn't have internal threading)

Pics
I probably should have mentioned this from the start, but the trem is not from a westone, it's from a BC Rich. Sorry about that; it probably would have given you more context. That said, there are no threads in it anywhere, from the collar all the way down through the block.

Re: Wanted: Tremolo Bar
I hear you but it's still a Bendmaster or something very closely related. I"ll try and send a pic. Took me awhile to figure out, that's what landed me here.

Then it'll just be a push-in FR bar...
