I've no idea how many were sold through this route, but the thunders were available through the kays catalogue at the time - the equivalent of the TV home shopping channels of today I suppose. given that they allowed easy credit - the sort of pay £3 per week for 50 weeks type of deal i imagine they could have been quite popular
