I've commented on this kind of weirdness before in conjunction with the Python. Just don't get it at all.

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
My interest with this one is whether or not it is an original custom finish for a Spectrum V?

Wow. If that isn't a factory finish, it sure does look like one! If I had some cash to spare I'd pick it up (mostly out of curiosity), but alas. At least the guy isn't asking $1200, eh?

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
From my meager knowledge the SLM shop in St Louis did do a select few actual custom snakeskin finish Westone guitars and even fewer Basses. These were done in the shops at an additional charge back in the day. Considering what the seller wanted recently for the snakeskin guitar this one is far more reasonable. I am not up to speed yet on my Westone prices so I would like everyones opinion on this one. I know I saw a Pantera X750 Bass in Candy Red and it was only $129.00.

I've only seen a few snake guitars; never seen a bass so your guess is as good as mine!! You interested, Arthur?

C'mon John.... this is Arthur you are speaking about.
OF COURSE he is interested.

Yes I have my eyes on this one and my egas is at fever pitch. I just scored a Pantera 750 in Candy red today and I am awaiting it and the Raider II I scored earlier. This one peaks my interest but I am going to request more pics and info before I go any further on this one to make certain it is indeed a SLM custom shop applied finish and not just some fancy re finish. HD pics will tell.

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
It must be a SLM custom finish and like others, I've never seen it on a bass.
The start bid is not bad at all. Someone should snap up this custom piece of history.

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
You scored a Raider II?! I remember somebody just got a Raider I, is that what you're referring to? I really like the Raider II's something about dual buckers that I'm a sucker for.mortarman120gang11c wrote:Yes I have my eyes on this one and my egas is at fever pitch. Re: ...I am without words on this one...
I was the one that scored them both. The Raider I is nice but I am waiting to compare the Raider II with the extra humbucker. Will update when it arrives next week sometime. Same color as the Raider I so they will look nice side by side with my orther pointy models like the Red Futura and the Pearl White reverse Futura and Urchin models.

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
Got a reply to the pics request on the snakeskin Bass. As best as I can guess it is a 1989 Spectrum V 5 string with the custom python body only finish offered from the SLM custom shop. Here are the pics. I am going to take a shot at this one.

Re: ...I am without words on this one...
Hope you get it, Arthur! That means I get to play it at the next Electra/Westone Fest! Also, is it just me or did Westone swipe the Peavey headstock shape for their Spectrum Series II 5-strings?
