Bendmaster FT questions?
Hi guys, I'm in need of some info.
My brother has just got a Spectrum DX and I've been working out what trem arm is needed for it (a black threaded 6mm import type I think).
I was wondering, what does the adjustable screw in bush the arm sits in supposed do? Both the arm and the bush screw into the block and I'm not sure what it's doing exactly. I haven't taken it apart yet so it's probably going to be obvious what it does when I get stuck into it!
Also, could I fit Fender bullet end strings in these FT trems? The ball ends fitted at the moment are all jammed in different positions in the string retainers, and I was thinking the bullet ends would be better. So I wondering if anyone has had problems using these type of strings with this trem, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't work, but I thought I'd ask.
Cheers,
DAN.

Re: Bendmaster FT questions?
Adjustable screw?? Is it the setscrew in the crossthread hole of the collar for the wang bar?
Pics if you can please DF...

I think so. I got David Blair's last one before he shut down so I didn't bother to find out the diameter. The one I bought from StewMac for my GT however was 6mm.DuoFuzz wrote:...I've been working out what trem arm is needed for it (a black threaded 6mm import type I think).
I haven't played the DX in awhile so I can't remember exactly but if memory serves, it simply snugs up the bar to hold it in position:I was wondering, what does the adjustable screw in bush the arm sits in supposed do? Dunno what you mean by "jammed". Are the ball ends actually falling into the retainers? Shouldn't be. Bullets should be OK if you prefer all yer ducks in a row! Nice n neat. The ball ends fitted at the moment are all jammed in different positions in the string retainers, and I was thinking the bullet ends would be better

The adjustable screw in the block screws onto a nylon sleeve. The more you screw in the more it grips the trem arm, stopping it 'flopping' about.
Here's a good replacement arm.

Here's a whole lot about the trem.

Cheers Westbone,
I've had it apart to clean it and found the nylon collar under the bush, makes sense now.
I got a few pics of it as my brother bought it.

Note the angle of the ball ends stuck in the string claw retainers.

These are the "bad" Magnaflux 1 UBC pickups, aren't they?

And this is Lilly, ever ready to kick any important bits and pieces all over the floor!

Re: Bendmaster FT questions?
Yeah those are the "pretend" UBC's. Got 'em in my DX too.
My ST also came with them (since replaced with 45's!)
They don't sound too bad...but compared to a 45, well...
