Westbury Track II Bass
Another well made Matsumoku Bass from 1981.
Dimarzio pickup, with series/parallel switching. Sounds 'king OK.

Hey Westbone, those Track basses are well regarded and go for not a meagre amount! If I remember correctly, the body is made from Mulberry. Nice condition

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
It is a nice bass. Decent sound to. More like an old precision type neck, '60's style.
Very well finished. A bit heavier than it looks.
Just sold it, had it years just doing nothing. Seems there's quite a few Westbury's in the states!

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
Bump for an old topic - Westbone, I find myself gassing for one of these. Do you by any chance know the weight and width of the neck at the nut. And, furthermore, is there anything sinister going on underneath the scratch plate ie could it be removed or are there capacious routings?
Thanks for any info!
Paul
Edit - found out elsewhere and GAS cured - too heavy, neck too fat!

From what I remember, no suprises under the pickguard.
Very wide neck, too wide, look at the spacing?
Bridges are prone to splitting.
Sexy guitar. Give me Jazz bass anyday:lol: or a Thunder I or a Concord II.

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
Went for £130-ish in the end, so even if it had been light enough I would have passed, I think. I do like the double cutaway shape, though, and miss my old Washburn Scavenger - which was seriously heavy.
I have never tried a short scale bass, so it finally occurred to me I should try an Epiphone EB-0 and kill two birds with one stone.

For a short scale, try a Concord I.
Seriously underrated.
There's a few pro's I know who use these.

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
Paul, I was also watching that track 2 with much interest, only down side was the ugly replacement bridge, like damian said, the original bridges are prone to cracking and I've never seen a spare for love nor money.
I'm still looking for one, and a westbury standard/deluxe 6 string......hoax wanna sell one?

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
Gibson/Epiphone bridges are an exact replacement.
If you look at the bridge on the one I had you'll notice a bar at the rear of the bridge. I made this and called it a 'sustain' bar . It does actually help a bit.
This bridge was split and as you tune it pulls the middle of the bridge up , causing it to bow up. The bar prevents this.
It also gives you a little more travel over the saddles. Otherwise the coloured tape(cotton) usually goes over the E/A saddles and looks a bit crappy. That's why there's plain looking strings on it.

Re: Westbury Track II Bass
One other thing about these.
You'll notice the fingerboard overhang as your getting up to the 12th fret at the E+G strings.
It's as if the neck is to wide for the bridge/ nut set up.
Not very nice to play as the neck feels huge.
