Hi

My beloved '86' Thunder 1 is in need of a re-fret and new nut after 26 years of a few gigs and almost endless playing

My only problem is locating a suitable replacement nut which must match the original.

Does anyone know where I might find such an item in the UK?

I guess the original is graphite but most I've found are for LP or Strat's?

Thanks for any info.

Cheers

Most of the Thunder Is I've ever looked at have a brass nut; pix would help!! But anyway, having a new nut cut is no biggie - most good luthiers would do that for you or you go to the likes of Stewmac with your string spacing at the nut and buy the appropriate pre-cut nut. Or buy a blank one and cut it yourself, being careful not to cut the slots too deep which can cause binding when the strings in there.

Welcome here... Very Happy

Measurments are in millimeters. Divide by 25.4 if you want to convert to fractions.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The nut is definitely not brass. I think it's graphite but is worn out and is original 86 vintage Very Happy
