12 string?

Has Westone ever built a production 12 string? If so, what model(s)?

Yes and no, depends what you mean by Westone. Matsumoku never made a Westone 12 string the modern line of Westone guitars made for FCN does include at least one 12 string acoustic,

There's barely enough room for the Westone logo on the headstock.
I tried enlarging the pic to read what's on the TRC but no luck. Guesses anyone?

Looks very similar to the Vantage VS695-12 and VS696-12....(tail piece and neck only) If Vantage had these, no reason Westone would not have made any in my mind....

I think it's more likely to be a custom guitar than a production model. Might find out in a few days - I just bought a copy of that magazine, there's a fourteen page interview with them in it, hopefully they'll mention that guitar in the interview.

God, I could care less if it's a custom; I want that in the worst possible way... to paraphrase Homer Simpson...

It says Trevor Rabin.

It does say something else under the name but it's too small to read

The article doesn't help with identifying it - it mentions Westone making custom 6 and matching 12 string Panteras for him, but that's definitely a Spectrum body. It does show his X390 - a Dull Black one (I thought he had the X390CB) and does say why there's no Pantera logo on the body- he had it sanded off.

There's a picture of him with another Spectrum (LX or FX) and Chris Squires custom Electra-Westone bass, but that's all the Westone related information in the interviews.

I think the only thing better would be a 12 string version of a Pantera 350. But I think the only way I'll see that is if I attempt to build a copy myself.

There are a couple of good pictures of this guitar in the Big Generator tour programme.

It is almost certainly a custom one-off for Rabin and is quite possibly still in his collection.

He had Rainbows, Spectrum FXs, and of course Pantera X-390s.

Unfortunately he doesn't do a whole lot of guitarwork these days.. there is a good chance you have heard some of his music recently though, he is responsible for the score on a lot of big movies over the past 10 years or so.

Ok, so this topic is where I started thinking of making a 12 string. I just bought a copy of the magazine with the spectrum 12 on it. What I found cool is it shows a few of Rabins guitars in a shot. His classic strat, A Tobias guitar (that I think he ended up using as a synth guitar) and a 390 DBK

Yes a 390 DBK. Not a CB that we all know he uses. I suspect this guitar was also used in his Don;t look away video with th white polka dots on it.

The other interseting thing is it mentions he has custom 6 and 12 string Panteras in the works. Maybe they meant Spectrum since we know he has one, but is it possible Trevor has a 12 string PAntera? if so....he is in good company

I will try to scan the shots of his Westones from this mag - Sept 1987. Funny, I bought this new for 2.95 US in 1987, and I just bought it again for 12 US. Ah - gotta love ebay.

I have one of the Korean Vantage 12 string acoustic electric models and it is top notch. Awesome sound and plenty of power from the pickups. Great guitars
