Tuner for headless bridge
Hi there,
Does anybody know how to get a tuner for a headless bridge? Or a complete headless bridge?
That would be the threaded part that hooks on to the string and the 'nut' part that needs to be turned.
Perhaps these parts are interchangeable with Steinberger or ABM?
thnx!

Ooh, nasty - well, the little cast steel (?) bit is anyway! You could make a knob out of plastic padding or epoxy and a correct sized nut - or even getting a scale modeler to cast you one or two, but you may have to get an engineer to make one of those little claws, eh!

Hi Corsair,
Indeed I'm looking for somebody with a millingmachine/lathe. The claw is die-cast (zinc-alum.alloy) the knob is plain steel.
The claw in brass should be very nice... ideal for milling.

It would seem that David Blair is busy with these parts...! If they are as good as his other spares I'm one happy camper.

Just a wee hijack of your thread here, Hummel, but I concur! The knobs for my X195 arrived yesterday - these would be the ones David called 'seconds' - and I defy anyone who's not an anorak to see ANY defects at all; I'm well pleased! Does anyone wanna see what the guitar looks like with knobs on?

Re: Tuner for headless bridge
yep! bring it on!
I had 3 of those knobs as well for my red superheadless...still haven't found the imperfections, at least not at the outside.

Re: Tuner for headless bridge
Hiya,
Mr. Hummel, it looks like the threads are stripped out from your block/claw (bad picture, I could be wrong) might I suggest a repair of the threads by using http://www.emhart.com/products/helicoil/repkit.asp
They're dead easy to install and all you need is a steady hand and a drill press.
Hope this helps....

Re: Tuner for headless bridge
Hi Confused,
Well...actually I'm missing one entire retainer+screw+tuner. But your right about the thread of the original retainers which is made of die-cast (or zamac). This is not to bad, because the screw is ankered in the retainer with a grub srew and the actual tuner with the thread is made of steel.
The helicoil is a good tip nevertheless, it might be usefull for other worn out parts...so thanks for the link!
