Hello, as you can see I'm new up here, have to say your a lively lot.

In your post you mention the SX that's been kicking around on eBay since at least last October.

The guitar only has 2 pot knobs, I assume them to be a tone control & a push pull phase knob. In the pics I've seen the SX has 2 tone control knobs a push pull phase knob.

Could anyone advise, cheers, fish.

Thanks for your help, yes I've seen everything on the 'The Westone guitar and bass guitar resource site' but still couldn't find if an SX's had been made with
just the 2 pots, do you think the red SX on eBay is a marriage of an SX neck on another body?

The guy is sending me some more pics of the red SX, the black SX has just been re listed with offers, it has the two tone & one phase knobs but has two replaced tuners with out the Westone symbol on. My gut feeling is I should wait until a nice clean original Spectrum turns up, preferably never gigged & still with its case, like the white ST in Germany.

I'm just looking around at the moment & suffer from the collectors disease & though I have had my blond 1986 Session II since 1990, collecting Matsumoku Weston's has only just bit me, its probably because I've been retired for a year now & have had the time & inclination to pick up the Session II & play around with a little Blues.

My apologies; I should have guessed you'd already been there!! To be honest, I don't know but Matsumoku did have a tendency to make alterations without any prior notice so this could well be one of them as by and large, the SX has 3 knobs, and the MX has two.
I'm inclined to think - if it hasn't been tampered with - that's it's an SX because of the trem; the MX didn't have a locking trem just a floater...

That said, it looks OK and a Spectrum is still a lovely guitar which is built to take the knocks! They may not have the WOW factor of the Panteras or Session IIs but I like 'em a lot!!

Nice Session II; a few of the lads in here have 'em and love 'em so a good choice!

as for collecting them; good luck - there;s loads out there and even still a bargain or two to be had, but be warned, prices are getting steeper by the day!!
