Ooooh, that's nice!! Very Spectrum-y.... pull pots(?) and a 2 point floating trem with a graphite nut!! I'd have that in a heartbeat so I'll send you my address to post it to... Do you know what the p'ups are?? I'm prepared to bet my first born child - now a hairy arsed 27 yo - that they're MMK45s.... any takers???!

I'll bet the lads at Matt would like to see that, eh!! Thanks for posting these, Graham - much appreciated! And I like the look of your Matts; some unusual ones in there... have we seen them? Hmmmm????

The Pickups are Protomatic 1V'S. They are not as stong as the MMK 45's, but still very nice. You are spot on about the pull pot. The tone pot pulls to split the coils so that my bum notes are clean rather than overdriven.

Hmm, thought you might but I'll think you'll find that the Protomatic IVs are what APII called the MMk45, and to further muddy the already murky waters of Matsumoku p'ups, there were variations on the theme as well...

So... we've been playing about the same length of time... actually I've been playing a bit longer!! I was 8 when I started and I'm *cough*-1 now - but still get tied up in knots trying stuff I have no earthly right to be playing!!

Oh, can I prevail upon you to take a few more detail shots of the LE and wander over to Matt and see if the Admin would like them??

Check the thread in the Members Westone section re Red ST. There is a link to Westone info. My pickups appear to be the early UBC's (apparently useless!!) with Philips headed poles. I have a brochure which shows my guitars spec as Protomatic 1V's (MMk 45's), but on my guitar the pups aint strong enough to be MMK 45's.

Imagine trying to explain to the missus that we find such talk interesting. She would probably rather listen to me murdering Alvin Lee's Goin' Home at full volume (Well maybe not!!!)

But a Spectrum by any other name is still...pretty flippin' terrific, eh?

It looks good with the APII head stock but methinks Westone should sue.

Hi I'm new to this forum. I have one of these. I don't know much about it though as I bought it second hand a few years ago. I like the guitar it has a nice action and tone.

Go over to Matsumoku.org and you will find catalogue and specs. I have since painted mine a vey light baby blue as it was a bit scabby.

Thanks for the info about the site Graham. Won’t a repaint detract from its value? I can’t remember what I paid for mine it was a few years ago. Have you any idea what they are worth today?

They are not worth anyway, probably about £100 so I would rather have a guitar I was happy with. I would not do the same with more expensive model.

The LE is quite rare, however, having only been produced for about a year but they are not by any means "Holy Grail" axes.

Thanks for the info Graham looks like I will not retire on the sale of it then!!!!

Hi all. I have the sister of the white guitar in the photo only mine is black. I bought it new in 1986 when I got a tax rebate and it cost me £169 which was a fair bit back then, particularly when you consider I picked up a new Yamaha Pacifica for less than £100 a couple of years ago. I still have the original guarantee card which says on it "Distributed by Giggsville" and the letters LE -HRT B which I'm assuming is the series and colour, B = black.

Can anyone tell me any more about this guitar as I'd love to know.
