Sure.
Most of it can be read here
http://home.att.net/~daion/electrics.html
That said, this is to the letter japan at its finest.
Trust me on this-again to the letter.
Yamaki....nuff said, and in this case Yamaki wanted to brawl.
(and came out with flag ontop, flyin colours asf asf asf asf)
To be blunt,it doesnt get any better.
Money - no object.

Shirley, you can't be serious? Some of us are dead broke.
It is an amazing guitar though. I showed it to my old band buddy last night and he was drooling all over the keyboard.
You're a lucky guy Jesper!

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood

The essence of it is that these guitars are about forgotten and hence from time to time can be picked up rather cheap.
Quality wise though...

Not all that long ago i had a Power MkX.
Basicaly the slabside version of the MkXX.
Well....not.

The power MkXX indeed was WAAAAYYY ahead of its time and there are those around that mistake them for one of PRS more expensive models.
An understandable mistake if you ask me,only..the build quality of the Daion beats the PRS.
No BS.
From a material, quality and craftsmanship POW a Daion like the one above IS a couple of notches above...just trust me on this.
..and ironicaly enough they on occasion show up dirt cheap as closet finds as to some...it´s just an old japanese guitar.
Their bad.

Barry.
Pics can often be misleading.
For the sake of argument, that server of ours can present pics....laaaaaaaaaaarge as well,so....
Here´s the links for those two first pics, just in massive blowup.
http://www.102983.org/cpg145/displayimage.php?pid=1545&fullsize=1
http://www.102983.org/cpg145/displayimage.php?pid=1549&fullsize=1
Check it out for a while,cause...indeed...that there is about as good as it gets.
The little details...how the bridge is formed to follow the body lines.
The "Daion" cast into the baseplate..asf asf asf
http://www.102983.org/cpg145/displayimage.php?pid=1550&fullsize=1
Notice how slim it is,and the downright perverse attention to detail. It feels MUCH smaller, more ergonomic asf than anything i´ve encountered from the era-and as you know i´ve owned a few by now.
Then have in mind that the axe is 28yrs old.
Like i wrote over at the Mat forum i´m gonna hit her with the buffer and various compounds once more before i feel done, but already as is....dayyyuuuum broh..
Fun part is that as can be seen from the beltrash this is not a closet classic in any form.
It´s a guitar that has really been used...and the qualitys inherent just takes a little work to bring forward again.
Just amazing...and the boys at Yamaki indeed built some true wordclass guitars.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Stunning guitar Racing, just stunning!!!
Quick question. I've noticed there is some grub screws in the sides of the bridge, are these to lock the saddles in position, or is it to centre the strings on the neck?
I'm sure getting one of these would make my life better, just need to find some money now.........
I've already set up a search for Daion guitars on my Ebay account and found........sod all, damn!
DAN.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Grubs screws are there to both center and lock.
As anyone can attest thats owned a Washy Eagle or Falcon(built by Yamaki as well) the bridge is designed to make the guitar keep tune if you so opt to toss it off of a bus doing 50mph...

Work progressed a little today.
First of all i´ve posted on the local forums that i´m on the hunt for an "unmolested" pup frame for the neck pup,and sure enough one of the members have responded.
It´s supposed to show up in the mail next couple of days.
Then we´ve had a debate as to if the speedknobs on this axe is stock.
See..Yamaki used knobs out of metal and plastic both for the Eagle and Falcon...and indeed so for the Daions as well.
None the less,i for one at least find that the speedknobs looks cheap on a guitar of the Daions stature..
So...out and axle of brass came-seing that the rest of the hardware is gold-and into the lathe it went.
These brass one are cut to be push-on.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Hmmm...I see what you mean. Actually I don't mind the speed knobs that much. Brass may be correct but I'm finding it a little bit distracting on this guitar. I think it takes the eye away from that sculptured body, and that's a bloody shame. The knobs should not be in competition.Racing wrote:...Then we´ve had a debate as to if the speedknobs on this axe is stock...

I'm REALLY beginning to wish I wasn't so eager to click on links to guitar pron pics!
I'm gassing SO badly for one of these now...

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Must agree with barry, the brass does take the eye. Looks a little agricultural. The black knobs give it a lot of class. Beautiful guitar though.
Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Uhu.
We reasoned around this at the Mat board and around the shop as well, and result was that i made a set 3mm less in dia and 2.5mm less in height that i also knurled.
None the less,i have it confirmed from fellow Daion owner/enthusiast that the OEM knobs indeed are 25mm i dia...and indeed are gold
But...they sure came out to look more in harmony with the rest of the guitar.
Even in pics.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
If they have to be brass knobs then these are pretty nice looking ones.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
For all you Daion lovers, (me included), there is one on Ebay USA at present ... a really nice one aswell !
Currently $455 from a standing start with 9 days to go! Interesting to see what this ends up at.
Oh, ... and its just like Racing's.

Re: Speaking of serious pieces of wood
Yep.
Have seen that one,and the funny thing is that all of a sudden it´s like raining MkXXs from all over.
Apart from the one on US ebay there´s actualy two for sale over here.
Just today tho it jumped to 530 dollars, and that with 8 days to go.
A fair bet is that it´ll pass 1000 dollars easy as we close up on judgement day,and if you ask me...easily worth it.
The guitar is a dayum marvel.
A sculpture,a true work of art.
