Thunder 1A colour
Hi All, newbie to this site having just procured a Westone Thunder 1A from ebay, I have been looking at this model and the Aria TS series for a while and decided to take a punt ( hope I have made the right decision ) my question / query, the one I have bought is a solid red colour from 83, is this a standard thing or has it been refinished ? I would be interested in any information people could provide.
Regards Steve.

Re: Thunder 1A colour
Hi wemfender and welcome to the Thunder club!
You're gonna love the IA's versatility!
Nothing sounds like a Strat of course but the Thunder can do a passable imitation if pushed to. But it wasn't meant to be a Strat. It's something quite different. Just Hold on to yer socks when you hit the active boost and the phase reversal and all the other goodies on her!...

Re: Thunder 1A colour
Hi wemfender.
Just checked out your stuff on YouTube, excellent guitar playing. You've really got a hang of the Shadows sound and I'm loving the backing tracks, they sound very convincing, good work mate.
I have a few Squier Strats myself, all Japanese early 90's ones. I love my old Silver Series model and I also have an 'O' serial model aswell as my dads 'M' serial strat. The necks are are superb on these and they are getting hard to find now.
You will love the Thunder I-A, I've got an '82 model I had to nail back together. With the active circuit off the humbuckers sound big and beefy, and have a genuinely good tone to them. Even the coil tap and phase reversal options give some very usable tones, although the switching can be a bit tricky to use on the fly. I found - at least on my guitar - with the active on, if you have it turned up it will try to scalp you!
Seriously, if you get caught out by it, your ears will bleed.
DAN.

Re: Thunder 1A colour
My god that takes me back.... I'm not really a huge Shads fan but have played most of the biggies over the years - very tasteful playing there, wemfender; nice! - personal Shads fave, 'Man of mystery' - fun to play and riff on!! In fact the last recording I ever did with a band - demos only!! - had 2 Shads covers 'cause the other boys in the band were huge fans...
I agree with the backing track comments; Norrie Paramor would have proud of that, good work!

No worries, I appreciate the picture being posted here, I have no intention of using it for any purpose, I now have the info I was looking for, ( the guitar was indeed an 83 in solid red )

Re: Thunder 1A colour
I never understood the whole don't steal images thing. It's just a hotlink, after all. Why is it such a sore spot? I could understand if it was taken from westone.info and hotlinked on eBay and taking up bandwidth, but in this instance I don't follow.
