Pretty sure it's a silver guitar under very yellow lighting.

Re: never saw one in GOLD before......?
I don't think it's yellow lighting, I don't see any evidence anywhere else in the picture. The finish looks well done though, whatever it is.

It's an Electra Phoenix X185 in Silverstone, I'd be guessing...

Barry, everything in the pictures has a yellow tint. The only exception is the last picture, where everything is suddenly white. And seeing as the backdrop remains the same, it's definitely yellow lighting. Definitely a silverstone guitar.

Re: never saw one in GOLD before......?
The "quilt" in the background does not appear tinted at all, neither does the case lining, which shows distinct white areas in all pix. The only definitive yellow I see are the areas of discolouration in the foam which are quite yellowed from age.Warrn wrote:Barry, everything in the pictures has a yellow tint...
That said, there is quite a reflection off this thing, and you can make out what does appear to be a silver highlight or two. I don't know enough about the original finish on these things but I guess it's possible that the metallic flakes could refract the light and shift it to the yellow/red end of the spectrum? I get a similar effect on my red burst GT in strong light.

No offense, Barry, but you may want to have your eyes checked (or perhaps your computer monitor is discolored?). If you compare the first picture to the last picture, the lighting gets much more bright and clear. I'll go ahead and drop it now, but I'm certain it's a silverstone finish reflecting lots of yellow.

Re: never saw one in GOLD before......?
I think the last picture just looks brighter because a camera flash was used - there's no flash on the rest so they look darker and the colour balance is all wrong. Happens a lot with indoor amateur photography with insufficient lighting, or the wrong kind (I find energy saving bulbs throw the colour balance out a lot more than incandescent ones).

Thank you brother Creole for doing the obvious thing and asking!!caucajun wrote:the seller say it be GOLD!
So...nuthin' wrong with the eyes (there was no doubt on my part, I've spent most of my life working with colour and composition)...and I'm using a brand new Dell laptop given to me as a Christmas present on which the colour registration is perfect and the display razor sharp!

Re: never saw one in GOLD before......?
It is the Silverstone finish. Stupid name really, doesn't look like silver or stone. Looks like gold - at least it does in the 85/86 Spectrum catalogue - link
Doesn't look the same colour in the 86 Spectrum catalogue - link
