Thunder I w Amp
I have a line on a Thunder I, Light Oak, a few scratches and wear on the body, missing one knob but selling for $100 US including 15w practice amp. Thoughts on this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Thunder I w Amp
Hi there spierss and welcome,
With regard the Thunder, get your cheque book out and snaffle it as fast as you can. Its a bargain. Sell the practice amp to ofset the cost if you dont already have a decent amp.
This is a seriously good price. If the scratches are minimal. leave well alone and enjoy. You can always sand it back to natural at a later date. As for the missing knob, if its of the brass variety, you may have watch ebay for a while or change the lot to match.
This is good find at this price and I wouldn't hesitate. You can read more about the Thunder series guitars on the Westone website.
All the best
Steve

Thunder I w Amp
Thanks for the comments and advice Steve. I thought the deal seemed really good and yes the amp would find itself for sale rather quickly. Here is a pic.

Re: Thunder I w Amp
Its a minter, buy it pronto ! The brass knobs are becoming collectors pieces in their own right but do turn up. Expect to pay about £5-£6 each.
Whats the serial number on the back of the head? You can date your guitar from this. I would guess that this a version 2 guitar and is "through body" stringing. About 1982/83
Secondly, theres no oak in Westone guitars. Infact I know of very few oak guitars, primarily because its weighs a ton, and its so difficult to work without constantly blunting tools. However, Brian Mays red special is oak. I'm sure there are others. What you have is a body made up of Japanese ash, maple, and walnut. Compare that construction to a cheapie ibanez or a far eastern basswood strat clone. No contest. Once set up, it'll sustain till the cows come home.
Great find

Light oak is the name of the finish. Just like walnut is the name of a finish. Maybe you should read up on the Westone site yourself there, Steve.

Wow. I wish I remembered why my comment was so biting. It's not like I'm an expert.

The biting comment, or admitting to not being an expert?
The comment was made back in September so I really have no idea what that was about. I don't normally make such snarky remarks without provocation. Sorry, Steve!
